CYNICALMAN Movie In the Works

C2F chatted with comics creator Matt Feazell last night, who revealed that he's been busy this summer directing a feature film version of his underground mini-comics sensation Cynicalman.  The humor comic has seen hundreds of installments in various forms since the mid-1980s, including publications by Eclipse, Caliber and various Detroit-area newspapers.

Comics writer/artist and Feazell collaborator Jim Mackey (Jackpot Bear, Disney Adventures Magazine) stars in the movie as the title character.

Stay tuned for details...

Renner Talks Hawkeye Costume in AVENGERS

Actor Jeremy Renner is out making the rounds for the awesome new crime thriller The Town and he chatted with MTV Splash Page about his role as the sharp-shooter Hawkeye in Marvel's ambitious Avengers movie.

Renner cautions fans not to expect the flamboyant blue and purple costume with the pointy mask adornments from the classic comics.

"I think it's going to be a little more reality-based," Renner said of his costume. "You can kind of tell with Scarlett [Johansson]'s character [in Iron Man 2], it's going to be more of a uniform . . . and not a big purple, comics sort of thing."

Renner admits that eschewing the more colorful costumes in favor or "a sense of reality" makes the characters more interesting to him.

The Avengers movie is likely following the game plan of Mark Millar's modernized Ultimates comics, which saw Black Widow and Hawkeye as active members of S.H.I.E.L.D. before the formation of the super team. Indeed Iron Man 2 has already revealed Johansson's Widow as an agent of the spy shop.

And Renner's next comment seems to confirm that the pair will have a relationship as they do in the comics. "We will, I think, in this one as well," said Renner. "We're kind of a team, and what that relationship is, is still to be discovered."

The Avengers movie is due out in 2012. Renner was previously rumored to have a walk-on bit in Thor as well.

IRON MAN 2's Whiplash Battle

MTV Splash Page has a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the nail-biting Whiplash attack on Tony Stark, which reveals the suitcase armor from Iron Man 2. The clip is part of the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the movie, happening September 28.

I wasn't expecting Hawkeye to be in comic book costume but I am kind of hoping they at least give him a mask which can be explained as simply a way of hiding his face to keep his identity secret. Other than that love what I'm hearing

I'm sold on Priest already. Didn't realize Urban's trench coat character was a vampire, I thought he was some sort of hitman out to get the rebellious Priest

Can't wait for Smallville. This season I'm watching it as it airs and not weeks or months later on my tivo

Just have to add a complaint, this is been going on for a while but it's really getting tiresome and seemingly worse. The comments take minutes if not longer for them to show up, the number of comments is usually wrong or slow to catch up with what's actually on the thread, even once the comments show up they may disappear again later on, when I delete a comment it keeps showing for a while also. All this leads to people repeating themselves because they think the comment wasn't accepted or repeating what someone else said because their comment didn't pop up yet

Somebody at mania's technical support needs to get busy and fix this, pronto. You guys just look bad compared to other sites with these glitches and I'll be damn if I'm going to associate my name with some 3rd rate site :)

Ultimate Hawkeye was the coolest character ever. If he's like that in The Avengers I'll be very happy.

Agreed. It aslo takes a long time to log in to the site, you cant easily copy and paste, spell check and cannot quote previous comments. Lets see if this comment posts twice like my last one did.

@wiesguy... I feel the same way about Smallville. I usually wait until the seasons come out on DVD. But I will definitely be watching it as it airs this time. Very excited about it this year

Roqueja 9/16/2010 8:54:20 AM

I have seen the double-postings, and the comments about slow-posting and the like, but I have yet to experience any of that.  They always post and delete immediately.  Just lucky I suppose, but I just wanted to put it out there that it isn't a blanket problem with all users.

Hawkeye = cool.  Ultimate Hawkeye = uber-cool.

If this message double-posts after saying that, I retract my happiness and sunshine from above.

littlemikey979 9/16/2010 10:58:32 AM

Ultimate Hawkeye is second only to Ultimate Cap. I hope they goe that route and make him the B.M.F. that he is in the books. I hope they stay clear entire relationship between Ultimate Hawk/Widow unless he becomes a more central character. Renner has the look and he can pull off the attitude after seeing him in SWAT. Hope he does have something in Thor.

Smallville- looking good, maybe they are trying to make up for the past few seasons and that lame excuse of a thrown down between Clark/Blur and Doomsday.

redhairs99 9/16/2010 12:08:32 PM

Wise, Agreed both on Smallville and the problems here the last couple weeks on comments.  It's really getting annoying!
