Subscribers to Entertainment Weekly will soon receive a check out more action from Ridley Scott's Prometheus, the upcoming sci-fi project which is somewhat connected to his Alien franchise. Check out two of Shock Til You Drop's scans from the upcoming EW issue and you'll likely see that very connection between his first installment and this next space tale.
The film will star Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Logan Marshall-Green, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie and Guy Pearce. Ridley Scott was at the helm, based on a script he wrote Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts.
While the specific plot details remain elusive, Scott did reveal that "While 'Alien' was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of 'Alien's' DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart."
Prometheus will arrive in theaters June 8, 2012.

The spread looks like the inside of the ship from Alien - the face is new.
I agree Crazy, I have the same reaction. i was already excited about this movie, can't wait for the trailer.
I didn't realize it was still in the Alien Universe I thought it went a totally different direction, but I like the idea of it involving Alien and stepping in a new story direction.
Looks interesting and I sooo appreciate it being somehow tied to Alien.
When Ridley is excited, I am excited!
Y'know, this is what I like, not rebooting or redoing a particular film, but exploring MORE of a universe that that original film created! Explore the BDG universe, the Star Wars universe, Star trek universe, Aliens, Blade Runner, Mad Max, LotR, but you don't have to remake them. Just explore the realms they exist in, there has to be more cool stuff there!
I thought it was a seperate entity? This looks like an Alien prequel. Anyone else think that the news that it wasn't a prequel was just a false release by Scott? It gets rid of people's expecations to keep it within the franchise but imagine if you went to the movie thinking that it wasn't an alien prequel only to discover it was wouldn't it blow your mind...?
I may be wrong. But it was my understanding that this film is in the direction of the Space Jockey from Alien. The new mythology is expanding on that world and how they laid the seeds to human creation. As well they mentioned a weapon they use and it a familiar form of the Xenomorph we know.
Again I may be way off but regardless I am stocked about this film. I love when a bold original comes around.
Holy sh!t, these look amazing! Looks like Giger influence all over it.
