I'm a bit curious on why the first two promo pictures for 20th Century Fox's upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine are so generic but perhaps, they're saving the more exciting stills for last. I'll put the latest photo from Empire Magazine and the first promo still released via USA Today last month down below. The upcoming origin tale of the famed Marvel comics stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins.

Plot Summary: Leading up to the events of "X-Men," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will hit theaters May 1, 2009.

Here's those first two promo pics for the film.

So, this movie's hitting theaters May 1 of this year, huh? They must have had a really shitty marketing campaign since I never saw an ad for it and not even a movie theater playing it. Maybe they mean May 2009.

Darn, I missed it.

You know these posters are a little boring, but he does look like wolvie. A little tall, but still berzerk in the one.

I grew up a big fan of Wolverine, but I'm having trouble getting stoked for this movie. I think I need to see more. It's also probably because Wolvie was a major focus in all the X-films. The story should be good, and I think Jackman plays an excellent Wolverine. I don't care that he's tall. Who did you want? Tom Cruise? : )

I have big hopes for this film.

The USA Today pic is how I look when I haven't had my fiber.

I want to see wolverine cutting up giant robots and kickin' nazis with nick fury. Here's doubting we'll see either.

Can't wait to see Gambit and Deadpool. This movie will work because after several years of playing the part, Hugh Jackman (Who's producing and will have way more say in the overall outcome of the film),will have learned a lot about what works and what doesn't; taking into account fan reactions, fan expectations, etc. I think he knows that this role is what made him a major player and he's very loyal to it. I doubt he'd screw it up. And no, there won't be sentinels, but maybe a Nick Fury Cameo.

I think I'm more excited about all the cameos and guest appearances than the film itself. I love Wolverine but nothing I've seen so far has gotten me excited. I know is a long way off and I have my fingers crossed that like Jarrod said they're holding the best for later. I like Hugh too but I still wouldn't have cast him as Wolverine, here's hoping he kicks ass here. And no more crying, there's no crying in Wolverine.
