Date: Friday, August 24, 2007
Source: Paramount's Official Beowulf Site

A new redband restricted trailer of Robert Zemeckis' BEOWULF has appeared online over at Paramount's official site for the adaptation. This version of the classic tale was scripted by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary(Pulp Fiction) while director Zemeckis used his motion capture technology for the characters. It stars Ray Winstone(Beowulf), Anthony Hopkins(King Hrothgar), Angelina Jolie(Grendel's Mother) with other stars John Malkovich, Brendan Gleeson, Dominic Keating, Alison Lohman, Robin Wright Penn also making appearances.

Plot Concept: Just like the classic tale, the mighty warrior Beowulf slays the demon Grendel and incurs the wrath of its monstrous yet seductive mother, in a conflict that transforms a king into a legend.

To see the redband trailer, head on over to the official site and click "Restricted Content".

BEOWULF hits standard and Imax theaters on November 16, 2007.

Very interesting, but it seems that only a couple of flashes of Grendel's attack at Heorot give it that "red-band" quality. In our first English department meeting, we mentioned that this film was coming out and that it seems to be more "inspired by." Since Neil Gaiman scripted it, I definitely feel that the story will be updated but intact.

It's definitely not John Gardner's Grendel.

And there are plenty of Popeye's where I live (not that I ever eat there) but I'm with you mad... Even though I'm only starting to like beer, US beer sucks something fierce - notable homebrews and microbrews aside. As for the trailer - edit - ok, I lied, ... I was able to stream the video at work, but I was not amazed. Maybe I need to find that first trailer.

Yeah Madmaniac999 I don't know how you non-Americans live with yourself day in and day out. With all that better healthcare, education and social norms not dictated by the religious right. It must really suck. I am going to go watch that redband trailer again and savor it even more!

Also, why do you have to attack our beer? All pilsners all the time isn't all bad.

Okay, it is. I'll give you the beer thing.

However, being the global superpower that we are, we do have access to whatever imports we want.

GRRRR! I couldn't "verify my age" HORSE SHIT! I'm plenty old enough, how does that age verification thingy work anyway? grrr!
Oh well I've seen Jolie's boobies before, theyre great but I can wait.
madmaniac999- Truly you are mistaken about our beers. While Budweiser may be mass marketed, we have a TREMENDOUS amount of DIVERSE and high quality craft brews and breweries in the U.S.
Besides Canada has no right to bust on The U.S. brew C'mon! MOLSON?... REALLY?... MOLSON? (DISCLAIMER-this was a friendly ribbing, not an agressive post, it was meant to have a good time and bust back, no hard feelings were intended and none will be, end of disclaimer BUT we really do have TONS of good beer here.)

I'm in the US and can't seem to get past the restriction. What's this "US Government Issued-ID" b.s. anyhow? I saw this Ray Winstone guy in some PR thing for the new Indy movie he's in and he sure is a lot tubbier than his 'digital' Beowulf character. I think this is shaping up to be another turd from Robert Zemeckis.

It took me a couple tries for the website to verify my age but I got it to work. This movie looks BADASS. I didn't expect the film to be as gruesome as some of the short clips in the trailer indicated. There was a shot of a body flying through the air and landing squarely on a spear, and another of a dragon devouring another person. I can't wait to check this out, and I don't think this is any turd, especially since I like most of Zemeckis' films.
