For horror movie fans, this is one of their favorite times of the year. You will be hard pressed to flip the channels on your satelite without finding a good horror classic on one of the channels. I found one myself earlier tonight with the letterbox edition of Halloween playing on the IFC channel. Flipped the channel again and Dust Till Dawn (of course, that's not a classic...)arrived on Encore. Shortly afterwards, Dawn of the Dead hit the Starz channel. Like I say, horror movies everywhere and if you like the genre, it's your time to grab a bag of popcorn or whatever snack you prefer and enjoy some of your favorites on the old tube. It's not just on television though. This is the time of the year when studios are also releasing their Halloween holiday related films and one such film will be hitting the cinema on next Friday, October 19, 2007. I'm speaking of the adaptation of the Steve Niles' (check out his Mania blog when you grab a chance) comic book, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. The film stars Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Ben Foster and Danny Huston. It was produced by Sam Raimi and directed by David Slade based on a screenplay by Stuart Beattie, Niles and Brian Nelson.
A new redband clip for the film has showed up over at Sony's site. You can check it out here.
Plot Concept: Set in the isolated town of Barrow, Alaska, in the extreme northern hemisphere, which is plunged into complete darkness annually for an entire month. When most of the inhabitants head south for the winter, a mysterious group of strangers appear: bloodthirsty vampires, ready to take advantage of the uninterrupted darkness to feed on the town's residents. As the night wears on, Barrow's Sheriff Eben (Josh Hartnett), his estranged wife Stella (Melissa George), and an ever-shrinking group of survivors must do anything they can to last until daylight.
30 DAYS OF NIGHT hits theaters everywhere October 19, 2007.

I now want to see this movie a lot more than I already did...
