SEVENTH SON arrives February 6th, 2015.

Over a year ago we posted the first trailer for Legendary Pictures’ Seventh Son. It then promptly disappeared; not only from the release date schedule, but our collective memories. When a film has been postponed this long it is never a good sign. Will Legendary Pictures have a press screening? If they do, it's a good sign that they have some faith in the project. If not, it is a turd sandwich.

Synopsis: A 18th century adventure story centered on young Thomas (Ben Barnes), who is apprenticed to the local Spook (Jeff Bridges) to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) escapes her confinement while the Spook is away.

The Seventh Son features Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Olivia Williams, and Djimon Hounsou.

The Seventh Son arrives February 6th, 2014.

Listened to this audiobook not too long ago.  Wondered why they wanted to bother making a film out of it.  The story is OK, and it was a semi-decent listen.  Nothing made me think, "wow, this would make a great movie."

I'm curious to see how this turns out, but I'm betting it isn't favorable.  It has already changed studios and has been delayed over a year.

I had to google to make sure this wasn't based on Orson Scott Card's "Seventh Son."  The little of that book I made it through didn't seem much like this but it was pretty terrible.  Not that this movie looks a whole lot better.  Looks like a cookie cutter fantasy to me.

Looks to be a an entertaining Sunday afternoon time killer movie. I'll probably go see it.

 Looks good.

FYI  -  You may want to change the date to 2015 instead of 2014

The Last Apprentice books that this movie is loosely based on are quite popular.  I think there are 11 in the series so far.  They are considered Children's / Young Adult Fiction.  This continues the trend of making movies for adults (and young people) based on kid's stories and comic books.  Lately most of the biggest money grossing movies, and many of the higher rated TV series have come from these kind of stories, like  Harry Potter, Once upon a Time, Ironman, Superman, The Hobbit, Hunger Games, Divergent, Percy Jackson, Arrow to name just a few.

Personally I don't know what to make of it.  In my fathers generation you'd never see grown men reading children's books, comics or watching Sci-Fi and Super Hero cartoons on television.  Of course they had other means of escape like alcohol.   I wonder what sociologists have to say about this.

The delay's in releases aren't 'always' a bad sign.  Just look at how awesome Cabin In the Woods was/is.  Wasn't that in the can for 2 years before it was finally released.

Now, I'm not saying this will be any good and as many point out, it looks cookie cutter and not very interesting.  I'm just playing Devil's Adovcate here on the statement that 'all delays in releases are never a good sign.'

I'm there opening day. I thought it looks damn good and sword and sorcery is one of my favorite genres.

Looks ok but Jeff Bridges and Juliann Moore killed it . It's the Big Laboski prequel: The Dude in mid evil times

If they really thought is was crap it would go straight to Blue-Ray.

I wanted to see this in january of this year but the pushed it out all the way to next year... last year. So I have little faith in this currently.
