What is the concensus....do people actually have high hopes for this film? The first one was laughably bad.

What's a "gallyer"? Buy a new spell checker.

I don't have high hopes for FF2, but I think it will be an enjoyable movie.

Well, Cappy, I would have to say that I never had high hopes for the first one either. In fact, my expectations were so far lowered, then when I finally saw it on DVD, I actually did like it. I think my biggest 2 reasons for not looking forward to FF movies are these: 1.) I've seen the version that was made in 1994. It's so ridiculously bad, that the film was totally trashed. No video release, no European release...just off into that dark night of bootleg copies you find at conventions or Ebay. 2.) In my opinion, the FF are just inherently goofy anyway. They get their powers from Cosmic Rays they're exposed to while in space. You've got a scientist, his pilot, and a couple of teenagers who are along for the ride for some reason...CHEEEEEESY!! I guess I kind of enjoyed the first movie because it was able to embrace the cheese and the corniness and didn't attempt to take itself too seriously. So while I'm probably going to see the next one, I'm not exactly looking forward to it.

Looking for deep meaning in a comic book movie is like looking for snatch in a gay bar. The first FF was fun, stupid, but fun. I think the humor was good, the effects were pretty good and the action was fun. What more do people want a comic book movie to be? Somtimes, the first movie in a series based on a comic book can be hard because they have to set it up. With FF, that is already done so they can just get on with a story in their lives. Everything I've seen in the trailer says that they are really doing a much better job with this one. Time will tell.

I'm looking forward to this. Not in the "put my life on hold the day it's released" kind of looking forward to it, but more in the "hey, I might try to see this in the theater, if nothing comes up that weekend" kind.
I do like Michael Chiklis and Ioan Gruffydd, and I think Chiklis is the biggest draw for me.

hello guys, it s been a while, i ve been busy.

i didn t like the firts episode, but i will watch the second one, 90 percent of my decision it s because of the silver surfer, i saw the tealer, look great, but i doubt the script will be nice, doesn t matter, no too much expectation on this one

I'm with you TKay. My expectations for the 1st one were so low that I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Not that it was a great film, mind you, but enjoyable campy fun. I think it did a great job setting things up for future films. Didn't quite like their take on Doom but enjoyed the film nonetheless. Yeah it was cheesy, but so's the comic. It knew what it was and embraced it.

Now I'm really looking forward to this one, which probably means I'll be really disappointed. Stupid Galactus Cloud.

my expectations were so far lowered, when I finally saw the first part on DVD, I had already seen everything from the numerous TV spots and everything else was pretty much blown for me. Sure the movie itself was enjoyable like rubbernecking a bad traffic accident on the side of the freeway, but just watching it for the sake of filling in the gaps was sorta like "meh... who cares?" plus Dr Doom looked rediculous but at least he wasnt wearing the ROBOCOP armor like he was in the 1994 version...
...which by the way TKay42one, that '94 version was NEVER intended for release of any type, Roger Corman was going to loose the rights to FF if he didnt start production on a FF film... so he did it in order to retain the FF rights, not to produce a movie that would ever get released into theaters or DVD. It was never MENT to see the light of day, just to piss off the lawyers and keep the rights.
