Some new set pics and an update from Craig from the Chilean desert locale popped up online for Quantum of Solace. USA Today was on location and got a glimpse of an action scene being filmed while also speaking to cast and crew. Leading star Daniel Craig also talked about the title for the 22nd Bond adventure.

"He has his heart broken," says Craig, who turned 40 during the shoot. "The love of his life is killed, and he finds out she's not who she said she was. … He's out for revenge. But he's also out to find — and this is what the title is about — a 'quantum of solace.' Something has been taken away from him, and he's out to get that back."

Aw Christ. Paul Haggis has made Bond a little boy. That was the only thing I couldn't deal with in Royal, was that he knew Vesper for a few hours and, all of a sudden, she's the "love of his life".

And why does that have to be the catalyst for the whole damned remaining storyline about taking down Spectre? Shouldn't the motivation be, oh I dunno, that they're essentially the massive organization who has its hand in everything and is attempting to commit atrocities that range from genocide to robberies that start in the billions? But no, you're right; Bond should only be taking them down because they are responsible for killing some broad he knew for forty-eight hours and fell in love with.

There's making characters human, and then there's making them melodramatic foibles. Haggis has the latter down in spades.

That photo of Gemma Arterton had me asking when the hell they cast Jennifer Garner in this.

joey...That's only because they didn't show the rest of Gemma. She definitely doesn't look like JG from the neck down!

Can't wait for the next chapter in the "new" Bond. I loved Casino Royale and I like that they gave Bond's character some feelings some depth.

I'm with you on that one, wessmith. This is one of my top 3 anticipated movies of 2008. Casino Royale just blew away my expectations and converted me from a naysayer to "Aww, HELL yeah!".

As for the motivation, I think I read a caption for one of the pictures to be that the leader of the Quantum group plans to control the world's water supply. That would seem to indicate the main plot. I think the revenge angle is only part of the larger storyline. But I really like the direction they're taking Bond...away from the campiness and making him more human, more believable. And yet he still kicks ass the way Bond always did.

I've started reading the books, and while Bond is not a little boy, he falls in love quite often. Casino Royale was extremely faithful to the character established in the novel. I for one can't wait to see where the series goes now.

It was hardly just 48 hours. They bummed around Italy for a month or so before she was killed (and also hung out even longer then that while Bond was recovering in the hospital).

So they had plenty of time to build up a real relationship.

Plus she was hot.

I enjoyed the new Bond and don't really mind the humanization of the character. To me, it is showing why he is what he is in the earlier films. For example, his attitude toward women is what it is because of Vesper. Throw in the psychological ramifications of almost actually losing his manhood, etc. Plus, I enjoyed the methods of storytelling shown in CR. Like he is initially a blunt instrument but clever, which is shown in the chase where he just plows through the angles and takes advantage of the elements rather than having finess. Even his use of the poker chips was characterization, where he'd just sloppily throw them in, but as the story when on, he became more deliberate with them.

I love Bond movies, have always loved Bond movies. I'm just can't wait for this to come out.

Worst title ever! Bring back PB! His Bond was great! Why did they replace him with this loser? They shoulda replaced him with Craig Ferguson, he was the natural choice!
