The blogging of production updates has worked well for Cohen (Mummy 3), Lexi Alexander (Punisher), Del Toro (Hellboy II) and Snyder (Watchmen). So, now, Warner Bros and McG are launching a new official blog for their upcoming Terminator Salvation trilogy. The first update for the new blog is a glimpse of some concept art and the first words on the production, which you can see below. Click on the photo to the left to see the new concept art.

We’ve officially started principal photography on Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. Like you guys, I’ve been a long-time fan of the series and I understand your passion for the Terminator movies -- and it’s my full intention to deliver a film that lives up to the previous three installments. I’ve spent time with James Cameron, spoken to Arnold Schwarzenegger, gone over the story with Jonah Nolan, and enlisted Stan Winston.

Everything we’re shooting is designed to be tactile and real, you’ll be seeing a whole set of inspired designs you’ve never seen before, and best of all you’ll finally get to see some of the post-judgment day future that was only hinted at in the previous movies.

John Connor will be pushed to the brink. And for me, Christian Bale embodies Connor’s strength and tenacity perfectly. And after visiting Sam Worthington on the set of Avatar, I know he’s perfect for his role.

As you know, Anton Yelchin is playing Kyle Reese, and his prep has been unbelievable. The guy's been watching all three Terminators incessantly and he’s definitely going to capture the essence of the character Michael Biehn created in Cameron’s first film.

We started principal photography with a sequence at Griffith Observatory. I've already seen a cut of it -- Anton and Sam are excellent. I’ll have more on that soon, and can’t wait to share some of what we’re doing with you all. Stay tuned for more.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the first of a new trilogy, will hit theaters May 22, 2009.

That pic looks cool. I know it's being directed by McG and it will be PG13 but I don't know about you all but I'm still there to watch the future war regardless.

I have no faith in a man who hides behind a name like McChicken. Here's to hoping this movie fails beyond belief and they lose their A## on this picture putting them in a position where the studio can't chance making a 2nd and 3rd one.

I'm all for having more Terminator movies. I may not have confidense in McChicken but if it does fail maybe they will replace the director and not look back at such failure. Still, even though he is to Direct you have a good cast, that says something. The CGI will be awesome, you can't screw that up!!! As for plot and Direction only time will tell. Im pissed with the Pg-13 rating but I'll be there with my Cyberyne Enhanced Popcorn and Beverage.

Hobbs...First off, I have never heard him or anyone else say he hides behind the name McChicken, his name is McG no matter how much you or anyone else dislikes it...Why would you want this film to fail beyond belief anyways? Do you have a beef with the franchise? Did McG screw your girlfriend/Wife? Did Cameron shoot a big ass load all over your face when he was finished? I'm willing to bet none of those things happened thus you have no need to hate on these new Terminator films...I will put down more money than you that there are a lot more people hoping that this movie succeeds so the others can be made...I got it, you hate McG because you use to be one of his assistance and he slapped you around and belittled you like a bitch and now you want him and this franchise to fail...Oh well...

Jedi...I will also agree with the rating of the movie but what can you do right?

mla, I'm with you. I don't understand why someone would want this to fail. I, myself I'm over the pg-13 thing, of course R would be better but never the less I'm really looking forward to this trilogy. This was the film I wanted ever since the first Terminator.

mlaforcer, sorry you are so offended about McChicken but I can't help that. I'm sure he is glad to know he has one or two people in his corner (not counting the studio). I'll take that bet that more people hope it fails than succeeds. I'll even take that bet that the movie will suck. If you wreck a franchise than you don't deserve to make money at it. Plain and simple. If the fans speak up and not fork over their money heads will roll, people will be fired, and maybe next time they won't screw with a beloved franchise. But fans are like sheep and like sheep to slaughter they will put their hard earned money down just like they do for every super special extra DVD edition that comes out with 2 minutes of new material meanwhile the film makers are laughing all the way to the bank making fun of us in the process.

mlaforcer • May 25, 2008, 01:34pm •
Hobbs...How can you say that he is wrecking a franchise? You have not seen one piece of evidence that shows this movie is going to suck or be a wreck as you put it...If you don't like McG just say so but don't go spouting off things you have no clue about...So how much money did you want to throw down that there are more people who want this to succeed than fail? because I can wager allot and that's based on the fact that I know there are a shit load of people who want this to happen in a big way...By the way, I take no offense, I'm just trying to figure out why someone hates a product before it's even made, that's all...

hanso • May 25, 2008, 04:01pm •
I can name 2 pieces of evidence that might lead people to believe this movie will suck. Evidence #1. The director. Evidence #2 The rating.

I personally have gotten over the rating, still won't be over the director until I actually see the movie. I don't want this movie to fail, it's starring the Dark Knight and it has Terminators, if the first one fails then there won't be a trilogy and I'll take a trilogy anyway it comes, especially if they cast Kimbo, then you know that shit is going to break all types of box office records, Kimbo Slice son!!!!

Anyway, for purposes of your bets, put me down on the side of hoping the film won't fail.

Hmmm...it does seem like I'm taking it personal and maybe to a point I am. This was one of my favorite movies of all time and to see it turned into a cash cow pisses me off. Granted I don't think about it after I log off the computer but while i'm on I get irked at it.

I was pumped with Bale signed on but then McChicken, PG-13, this is going to be the biggest toy line to the franshise statement, rappers being put it in, yadda, yadda, yadda. It smells like a sell out and I would be curious to know how much Bale got paid for this because even though I like the guy, who is going to turn down even a crappy movie for 20 mil or more?

Let me put it this way, I got my fill of episodes 1-3 (okay 3 wasn't bad) and I don't need another dose of it. I'm still waiting for the press release where they announce Jar Jar is going to have a major roll in it.

The fact that Stan Winston is involved is definitely a plus. So you know the visual effects will be awesome! And Christian Bale is picking really good roles lately. I do agree with you that a PG-13 rating might dumb down the film, but hopefully the writing, performances, effects, and the action will do the film justice.
