With just over a month to go before Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios hammer Thor into 3D theaters on May 6, the two studios have revealed two new TV spots for the comic film. Check them out below courtesy of TheMovieBox.net and ComingSoon.net. The action-adventure stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg and Colm Feore. Helmer Kenneth Branagh led the direction, based on a screenplay by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Don Payne.
Plot Concept: The story spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It's while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
"I'm gonna fly out"? Yeah baby, that answers that question. Man I am so effing pumped for this. And isn't that Sif about to jump on Destroyer, I think so because of the colors she's wearing. I guess Thor won't be our sole Asgardian visitor.
@Wiseguy - You may be right about Sif. I'm thinking this may be the climactic battle on Earth before Thor returns to Asgard to kick Loki's butt. I'm sure if the Destroyer was sent to Earth, the Warriors Three probably came along with Sif in tow.
This is looking so amazing. Just get me through April.
Agree with the whole "fly" line. Glad that Marvel movies are sticking to their character origins and powers. They could have easily just said "well, Thor is a cosmic godlike being that can also fly, let's leave that to Superman"
No way. Stick to the source material. This is where Fox and Sony don't get it.
On the other hand, Fox would have never made him fly.
Hmmm....I really hope the acting translates better on screen. I might be alone in this, but it appears to be a bit wooden (I didn't see Black Swan, but I've found this to be the case in most of Portman's acting ventures.) Chris Hemsworth looks like he is modeling and posturing for J. Crew. I do hope it is a good film along with Green Lantern, but I'm more excited by the Captain America spots.
Man I hope this movie is as good as the spots and trailers suggest... I love what I've seen so far. Can't wait for May 6.
