Plot Concept: TV reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) who, with her cameraman (Harris), are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building.

Quarantine will hit theaters Oct. 10, 2008.

I saw a clip for this a while back. It actually looked kind of creepy. I usually always wait for these fims on DVD though. I can't remember the last horror movie I saw at the theater. I just don't trust or like horror enough to drop the big dollars on them. I think that means I'm getting old.

Come on evil, catch a matinee, anywhere from 4 t0 6 ducks. I like what I saw so I may check it out.

The original RECORD was FANTASTIC!!! Gripping and suspenseful--- I hope this one is as good!!

Isn`t there a movie just like this that came out early this year or last called [rec]?
Oh, never mind this is just the inevitably bad American version of that. That`s crazy! Talk about quick! It was only made in 2007.

Looking at the synopsis on imdb, yes, it looks like it is a remake and in fact, the movie connections page lists it as such. But as for the speed of the remake, it's possible they may have started production before [Rec] was finished. Either way, being that most of the action is limited to a single building, the filming is all (apparently) done from a single news (shoulder?) camera, and the effects are fairly limited, it really may not have taken that much time to produce.

I liked what I saw, and I may go see it if I'm not overwhelmed by higher priority films.

hey look another horror movie that will suck

god i wish someone would make a horror movie that actually scare the shit out of me

I'm a cheap bastard most of the time.

Actually, the dough is just an excuse. The truth is I don't get as excited about horror movies as I used to (strangely, it's my reading preference though), and the wife's stomach grows weaker each year as she ages. These movies usually end up costing me 1 ducket from a redbox, and when I'm home I don't spend an additional 10-15 smackers at a concession counter. Movie popcorn is my crutch.

The Descent was probably the last horror film I would have gladly dropped cash at a theater for.

The movie which Quarantine is based on, called [rec], was pretty damn good. Of course I have a soft spot for Spanish horror films.

This looks not half as good.

If anyone has seen the original, it's obvious from the trailer that things have been changed a bit in this remake. Which is sad, because the first one worked so well.

Why the hell can't studios just push the original film instead of making a crappy American version?

Everyone, check out the original if you can get your hands on it! I really enjoyed it. Not the scariest thing ever, but very entertaining.

Why not push the original, because some people can't do subtitles... but based on comments, maybe I'll just check out the original. Subtitles don't bother me, y hablo espanol, un pequito.

Alright, back to popping my poison ivy blisters. ;-p

Yes indeed subtitles will cut out a very big chunk of the target audience, so it would not be in their best interest to do so. When you do, the results are not that favorable. A handful has made it to the American screens and worked, but it's not enough of a success rate to justify doing so. I never saw the original so I may search for it and check it out. The trailers alone for this movie was enough to make me want to see it. I do wonder how many more Blair Witch style movies will be made before it becomes annoying too common.
