A third TV spot for Will Smith's upcoming Hancock has popped up online, which you can watch below. The film also co-stars Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman and Eddie Marsan. Director Peter Berg led the misguided superhero flick, based on a screenplay by Vy Vincent Ngo and Vince Gilligan.

Plot Summary: There are heroes... there are superheroes... and then there's Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he's a lost cause.

Hancock will hit theaters July 2, 2008.

I should be synical, but I won't, this looks good, I think after I AM LEGEND, the Fresh Prince acting has gone way to actual Will Smith Acting... the reactions only in the trailers lead me to believe that a good director can make his delivery better than it would have been left to Will's own devices... either way, it's nice to see they didn't bastardize a well known Superhero character.

I think this will be another rare miss for W.Smith. The re-shoots and from all I've read they don't seem to know what movie they're making, a comedy, drama or action film. The tone rerportedly is all over the place. The twist in the film is weak and the rules for Hancock are inconsisyent. That's what I read. I'm sure it'll open big as the only major release that weekend but expected to drop big time as well.
Then again it may be worth it to see him actually stick a guy's head up another's butt, that is unless it's deleted in the final cut.

Agree with wiseguy. Also, the Zohan movie has a similar antihero plot and comes earlier. The movie looks entertaining, but I will probably see Zohan at the cinema (my family has a thing for Mr Sandler)and wait for the october/november DVD release of Hancock. If not, I'll see them both on DVD.

So far the only "antagonist" we know about from the trailers is some public relations agent who motivates Hancock to become more responsible. Is that going to be Hancock's "greatest challenge yet"? If so, I don't see how they plan to get by on special effects and action-humor. They either need a super villain antagonist or they need to amp up the humor all the way.
