Fans of the scarlet-clad Vampirella have been waiting for over six months to learn who would succeed "B" movie queen Julie Strain as the next official Vampirella photo model, and Harris Comics has just announced that the wait is over. After a search that garnered press from magazines like MAXIM, FHM, and PLAYBOY, as well as a number of online venues, Harris has located the next woman to embody comic's first "Bad Girl" for personal appearances and special comic book cover photo shoots.
The new model (as yet unnamed) will first be seen in print form in the VAMPIRELLA MODEL SPECIAL later in the month, but she will make an official debut at this week's Wizard World Convention in Chicago.
"It's the fans who made this all possible," says Harris Comics Executive Publisher Jonathan Rheingold. "They chose the winner by voting on Vampirella.com, and their support made the contest an incredible success. The Wizard World Con will give every fan a chance to meet her in person. This is our thank-you to the fans for a job well done."
"We expect a tremendous response from the appearance," adds Seth Biederman, Harris Comics Collectibles Manager. "Fans are encouraged to bring their cameras and some patience. I'm sure we're going to have some long lines around the booth."
The Vampirella Model will be signing copies of the new VAMPIRELLA #1 by Mark Millar and Mike Mayhew (recently reviewed on CINESCAPE ONLINE) as well as photos.
