With their 90-minute season two premiere ready to kick off in three week's time, AMC is showing off a full new trailer for "The Walking Dead." Check it out below and sound off with your opinions. The second season will be 13 episodes with the first seven installments beginning on Sunday, October 16 at 9pm ET and the final six episodes launching on Sunday, February 12th at 9pm ET.
"The Walking Dead" follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, who are traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Jon Bernthal plays Shane Walsh, Rick's sheriff's department partner before the apocalypse, and Sarah Wayne Callies, is Rick's wife, Lori Grimes. The cast also includes Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Jeffrey DeMunn, Chandler Riggs, Iron E. Singleton and Melissa McBride.
I didn't seem that long, Wise. I agree. And, with them splitting the season, we'll get 6 episodes now and then only have to wait 4 months for the next 6. Then the wait until October for season 3 won't be as long. If my favorite show kept airing new episodes in blocks every 3 or 4 months, I'd be happy.
Can't wathc the vid here at work, but I don't have to see it to know how good it is. It's Walking Frakkin' Dead!
I am with you Wise. It really didn't seem as long as it was. Maybe because I have watched the blu-ray twice. Plus I caught each episode on t.v. as well. I have too much free time these days.
I'm just not finding the enthusiasm I thought I'd feel about this show. It's a good show, don't get me wrong, but aside from a few key moments, it's not really the Walking Dead, and I sorta wish they'd just called it something else and changed the character's names so that I'd stop expecting it to follow the books. Far too many liberties have been taken, and far too many extra characters I don't care about have been thrown into the mix. Who the f**k is Merle? Nevermind, I don't care because he does not exist in the books, so he was dead to me from frame one. What's with all of the CDC science bunker sh**t at the end of season 1? 'Completely undermines the entire mystery that surrounds the group's struggle to survive in the first few months of their ordeal. One particular character should be feeding worms at this point, and it annoys the piss out of me that they're dragging it out.
There was no reason to deviate from the source material at all with this show. Even if you did one full hardcover volume of the book per season, you'd have 7 season's worth of material just with what's out now. I know Robert Kirkman has been supportive of the show, but to be fair, he was all but convinced that the comic book would be a failure, so I think he's being a little more forgiving than a creator ought to be.
Bottom line: I'm looking waaay more forward to the release of Hardcover volume 7 of the comic than I am for the show. It's a great show, but it's not really a great adaptation. Between this, and World War Z being totally bastardized I'm pretty bummed.
I'd love for season 2 to adhere to the books better, that'll go along way in restoing my enthusiasm.
Man that looks good, the long wait is almost over. You know actually it didn't feel that long.
