After receiving some fan backlash from some early posters for X-Men: First Class, 20th Century Fox and producers seem to be content with passing along the semi-weekly screenshots of the characters themselves. Just weeks after revealing the Hellfire Club with January Jones and Kevin Bacon and another snapshot with Lucas Til as Havok, the studio has unleashed this latest screenshot.

This pic involves Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme (aka Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy (aka Beast). Check it out below.

Helmer Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Layer Cake) led from the director's chair, based on a screenplay by Josh Schwartz, Jamie Moss, Ashley Miller, Zack Stentz and Jane Goldman.

Plot Concept: The prequel charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

X-Men: First Class hits June 3, 2011.

I really liked all three X-men movies and Wolverine to a lesser extent but this isn't doing it for me...

Now why on earth would the Fox PR company think this pic would get people excited!?

@avidfan-i dunno bud, the singer xmen movies were like the burton and schumacher batman movies to me.  it was basically set up like "here's the villain, here's the hero, hero wins."  So basic and could not be further away from the main storyline of earlier xmen comic books.  the first one was almost acceptable to me but when nightcrawler came out in x2 i almost shat.  this first class movie looked like a flaming dog turd at first but I gotta say im interested in seeing something different but true to the universe.

Let me guess... Beast and Mystique had a small thing going on...... ya, that sounds about right. haha

I don't know who that guy is, but he definitely ain't Beast.  What's his mutant power supposed to be in this movie?  Intelligence?

I think it's symbollic of them looking normal, because in the future Beast wil yearn for that and Mystique will be just the opposite... just my thought. Oh and I'm looking forward to this.

I've been an X-men fan since the early 80's. It's funny to see people on here freaking out over how these movies aren't staying true to the comics continuity. Isn't it enough to see your favorite characters brougt to life on the big screen? People it's a movie. If it sucks it sucks..then you can trash it !!! Don't think of it as a comic book movie think of it as a movie with comic book characters in it.

Looks like Hank designed the blackbird?

So far this tops the list of comic book movies I don't want to see. Now this might change once another trailer comes out though. That new spiderman has a chance of creeping up this list too.

I liked all three X-Men films so far, and am looking forward to this one. But I agree the pics they are releasing are dull
