Posters do nothing for me. I want to see this and I'm interested in how the story is being built around the Cuban missle crisis, but I agree that the first class should be what we all know is THE first class...Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, Angel and Marvel Girl. They were great characters so why change everything up? They still could have used the basic story of Charles and Erik.

It's the same thing with changing Spiderman's costume. The changes they are making make no sense. Disney really needs to back up a couple of brinks trucks to Sony and Fox and buy back the rights to the franchises so Marvel can make their own versions of the movies (including the Fantastic Four).

Gauleyboy420, I'm not trying to argue with you either. I'm not here to change anyone's mind, but like you said, "it is waht it is" And what it is, is garbage. I don't think anyone on here is saying that they want it to be exactly what they think it should be in their minds as comic fans. What I believe we want is for the makers of the film to do it in a way that doesn't spit or shite on the source material.  This has nothing to do with change being good or bad. Its about respect for the source material  which Singer and co don not seem to have. What's horrible and sad is that its not like it can't be done. Changes for the betterment of the movie can be made while staying true to the source material (Iron Man, Batman Begins, TDK, Spiderman, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk) All these movies have had some minor changes to make the content work in the film medium and they work fine. They are still respectful of the original material.

By your logic it'd be okay to make Cap America, (Capt Mexico) or Black Panther, Blue Panther, because change is good, and we don't want the same old stories. My friend, I disagree.

Be strong enough to change the things you can change...

Be patient enough to live with things you can't change..

and be smart enough to know the difference between the two.

I dont see the point in ranting on about how wrong it is - the big end of town rules this stuff and even if you guys are right there is nothing you can do.

How long do they have the rights for these characters? Will I get to see a Marvel X-Men movie in my lifetime? Will my kids?

I wonder if it pisses the crew of at Marvel that these guys are screwing with all their primo characters, I guess they got a lot of money for it.

Maybe we can petition them to buy them back.

MAKE MARVEL CHARACTERS MARVEL!!!   Yea Baby!

I might go and see it just to see January Jones in tight white leather....RRRRRRGGG!!!

Alright Gauley-i can respect ur opinion..... even tho it's completely wrong!!!  haha =)

But I hope u enjoy it bro. Cuz i dont think i will be able to fully. Im sure it will have some descent action and have its moments, but doesn't mean that it's still FUBAR in the back of my mind. And to answer ur question, we bitch and complain about it, cuz that's all we can do and that's what this site is for. Plus it's kinda fun...   =)

Pony, thats going a tad overboard...

I don't know that I'll like it, hey I HATED Wolverine, it was worse than X-3 IMHO. Because he WASN't true to the character. A sobbing nuetered dog is what they gave us.

I just happen to lioke the X-Men movie Universe. I also Loved Ultimate X-Men, I'm assuming none of you did. Becvause it was quite different from the original.

If I end up hating it, I promise to let you all know. I'm not that stubborn, that I'll pretemnd to like it if I don't

For the record, I don't hate the X-Men movies (excepting Wolverine), but I am hung up on the title, no doubt about it.  I think First Class is as inappropriate name for this movie as Welcome Back Frank would have been for Punisher: War Zone (they were actually thinking of using that title before settling on War Zone).  MANY plot points of Welcome Back Frank made up the plot of the Thomas Jane movie, just like First Class was a limited series ABOUT the first class...not just a clever name.  I'll probably even like this movie, but I really don't care for the title.  I mean, what if they made an X-Men movie about Cable or Bishop and called it Days of Future Past simply because it would deal with time travel?  I'd be pissed as hell about that too.
