The New York Comic Con transpired last weekend and Mania was in attendance. As always, we like to bring you the flavor of the Con as well as the Cosplayers. This year just felt different. It was very crowded, and by very I mean it was too crowded. There were tons of big displays from Marvel, IDW, and Image Comics. The strange thing was that there was no DC Comic Book presence. There was a big display for the 75th Anniversary of Superman (see pics below), but no DC booth. Again, Marvel trumped DC with a huge display, tons of Cosplay love, Con only exclusives and Lola (see below).

Surely those two Lokis have to be floor employees.  They look amazing...

Yeah, the Loki twins are, so far, the best costumes for sure!.

You don't have to be a booth model to get an amazing costume these days.  Loads of people are using Pepakura files to make some astounding stuff.  The RPF forum is full of film accurate outfits that ordinary fanboys and girls have made.  They're labor intensive, but relatively inexpensive.  I'm using Pep to make a Master Chief costume at the moment.  It's my first big project.  If it turns out as well as I'm expecting, I'm going to make an Iron Man armor next.

I thought about going to this, since I blew off the Philadelphia Comicon last June after going every year for years...but the enormous crowds are becoming a bit of a turn me off to me.  I hate when you buy tickets in advance and still have to wait on long lines for over an hour to get inside.

At the last comicon I attended you had to pay (on top of your admission fee) to see any celebrity who was even moderately famous and it was the Cosplayers who stole the show...if you couldn't get a photo of someone like Julie Benz or Michael Biehn you turned your cameras on these artistic people.
