I could also see Aaron Eckhart, RDJ, Matthew Fox, Gerrard Butler,,,or if they go younger, Chris Evans

It seems Walt Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer could have a director in mind for The Lone Ranger. Just a few months after the project was confirmed by the studio at an event in California, Production Weekly reports (via their Twitter page) that Mike Newell is in talks to helm the adventure. This would be the second high-profile Disney/Bruckheimer production in a row for the director, who's currently filming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Disney plans to launch that into theaters on May 28, 2010.
Johnny Depp has already been cast as Tonto and the search is still on for the title role. If Mike Newell officially signs on the dotted line for this project, he would be tasked with directing it from a screenplay by the Pirates of the Caribbean writersTed Elliott and Terry Rossio.
Plot Summary: The Lone Ranger's origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.
Thanks to Antonello Blueberry for the submission.

Matthew Fox and Gerrard Butler are good choices. So is Dicaprio. Johnny Depp is an excellent choice for Tonto, as he is already half Native-American.
This could be an interesting movie. Jonny Depp as Tonto works for me. He has got the cheek-bones for it. I am trying to think who would be a good Lone Ranger. you have your obvious Hollywood choices like Leonardo DeCaprio, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck....Actually, I could see Ben Affleck doing the role (critisize now), I guess it all depends on how old tehy wanna make the Lone Ranger. They could go later 20s to early 40s really. What do you guys think?
