Paul Newman, one of the legends of the silver screen (and a talented salad dressing creator in his own right), will provide his voice for one of the characters in Pixar's seventh animated feature, CARS.
Set for release during the holiday season of 2005, CARS is being directed by John Lasseter (TOY STORY). Newman will play a racing car in the film. The actor will also be behind the wheel of a Disney/Pixar sponsored racing car at this weekend's upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona event. The 79-year-old actor is hoping to break his standing record and win the race in the Fabcar-Porsche Daytona Prototype vehicle.
"Paul Newman is an acting and racing legend," remarked Lasseter of the announcement. "He is one of the greatest actors of all time, and his love and close attention with automobiles makes him the perfect choice for our film. I can't wait to see him beat his own record at Daytona and he'll have a lot fans here at Pixar cheering him on."
CARS will also star the voices of Owen Wilson, Bonnie Hunt, Dan Whitney and NASCAR legend Richard Petty.
