News on upcoming Star Wars video game

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Wednesday, February 14, 2007
Source: Game Informer

The February issue of Game Informer leaked a bunch of details regarding the PS3 and Xbox 360 game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The issue states that players will have a chance to work for Darth Vader himself as his apprentice, hunt down the last remaining Jedi as well as many other features.

The game is currently set to take place between Star Wars: Episode III and Star Wars: Episode IV.

The game is meant to delve deeper into Darth Vader's history.

KJ's Take:  Sounds wicked.  Hunting down Jedi could be fun as hell.  There's something about working for the bad guys that just wets my noodle.

Well, if there wasn`t another reason to throw down 700 bucks for a PS3, this is definitely it.

Sweet!!

...Or you could save a truckload of money and buy an Xbox 360, which has this game and a considerably larger number of exclusive franchises, not to mention the biggest existing catalogue.

Anyway, it's a real shame to here this won't be out on the PC considering the heritage of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight and X-Wing serieses. Console games always feel watered down to me.

Wait, what happened to the Wii Star Wars game? How is it that the we with its awesoem nunchuck action is not getting into this title? The rumors when Wii first came out that a Star Wars was in development and we could use the wii controller like a lightsaber. This game would be a great tepping stone for that console.

I'm very happy to hear about another cool SW game, but I'm growing VERY tired of games (Superman, to name one) not coming out for Nintendo or PC. It's Platform Bigotry!

Very lame that they didn't make a Star Wars Wii game yet. It will be like printing money.

nrollins, you didn't miss anything with Superman Returns.
It was garbage. It wasn't anywhere near on par with Spiderman 2, Ultimate Spiderman or The Incredible Hulk:Ultimate Destruction, all of which were great.

Forget about the PS3 for now, with only Resistance as a stand out title, the 360 is the way to go for the time being. Heavenly Sword and Metal Gear 4 may even the odds a bit, but they're still a way off.

Where's the PC version?

I have the 360 and the original XBox Star Wars games work on the 360 (one of the few that actually do). It will be great to have a game formatted for Next Gen gamers. We'll see if it is any good.

Let me know when they announce a massive multiplayer online version of X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. I want big huge dogfights in space. Nothing I have seen has thrilled me except the first Battlefront. Battlefront 2 got my hopes up when they mentioned space battles but was ultimately a disappointment.
