Nicolas Cage opened up to Sci Fi Wire about the reason for the GHOST RIDER delay.

"They're just tweaking certain things toward the end," Cage said in the interview. "The reason why the movie was delayedI know that's been on people's mindsis there were some effects that finally got authorized by the studio that [writer-director] Mark [Steven Johnson] really wanted, and they're pretty big, and it took time to put them together and design them. So we had to delay it. I think it's good, because it's something we really wanted to fight for, with Ghost Rider going into battle with the helicopter."

The movie is currently slated to come out February 16th, 2007. You can read the full interview with Cage here.

The budget to CGI his hair blew the FX budget.

I think Johnson learned his lesson with Daredevil and wants to make this the best movie possible. I'm glad the studio is taking its time; I think they know they have a good movie and don't want to just put it out there incomplete.

CG aside, this looks like it's going to be as bad as The Punisher... the Dolph Lungren version.

The trailer did look pretty good. I don't want to see Ghost Rider go down in flames, no pun intended.

Helicopter from Hell! With dead kittens as the helicopter blades. Look out Johnny Blaze!

Well, I know it is probably contradictory to b!tch about "too much CGI" in a movie about a guy whose head turns into a flaming skull, but the scenes in the trailer when he was swinging from building to building on a chain from his flaming motorcycle... if you are going to use that much CGI, just make an animated movie. Is Hollywood so out of car-chase ideas that they have to resort to this? Plus, Ghost Rider should be cool enough as he is, so why does he have to be Batman and Spiderman, too?

I know that I might get bashed for stating this and not having seen the movie, but Nic Cage just doesn't look like a superhero, and the burning skull and skeleton hands does not convince me that this is real and really happening, and that is just from the preview. I agree with nikodemos in that it could be better suited for a animated movie, cause to me, no matter how "real" CGI has become lately, human standins without real actors in CGI just don't fly. The Matrix Reloaded fight scene anyone? If you can tell that it isn't Keanu, then it just don't fly.

I liked the trailer when my wife and I saw X-Men..it looked pretty damn cool.. and judging from the whispers I heard around me(no not the voices in my head) other folks seemed excited too
