What They Say

Hikaru Kodama can't seem to keep herself out of trouble. Or maybe, she gets her thrills by getting into trouble. Her plunge into a world of sexual obedience has taken an unexpected turn as she unwittingly agrees to become the new wife of the sadistic Dr. Hirasaka. Despite Dr. Hirasaka's emotional plea for marriage, he cannot hide his true desire to keep experimenting on his luscious bride to be. In a twist of fate Ai asks to be "made into a woman" A temptation the doctor can not resist to join in on. This 3 way action will make you twiddle in the middle. A match of raw, diabolical sex games that will ignite the fantasies of perverts the world over. Kranke 2 is the shocking continuation of this mind blowing, chaotic series that will have you screaming, "My ass is not a blender"!The Review!
With their relationship moving forward in the strangest of ways, Dr. Hirasaka continues to look out for Hikaru's best perverted interests.Audio:
The first episode in this series is done in both and English and Japanese stereo mix, both of which are encoded at 192 kbps. The Japanese track seems to feel more alive and full but this is likely attributed to the differences in how the English track handles the voice acting. Their performances are much more subdued which results in a milder sounding mix. Both of them are decent across the board though otherwise as dialogue is clean and clear throughout and we had no problems with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.Video:
Originally released in 2005, the transfer for this OVA is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. With only one episode here and twenty minutes of bonus materials, there is plenty of space for a solid look transfer and this release hits it on just about every note. The bitrate meter tends to stay heavily in the sixes mbps range with only a few dips into the fives and lower during the main program. The higher bitrate lets the shows animation quality shine through nicely as colors are solid without being oversaturated. Cross coloration is absent as is aliasing during most of the panning sequences. Backgrounds maintain a very solid feel to them even with the style and tones used. The visual presentation overall is quite good with a very clean looking release that's generally problem free.Packaging:
With a bit of pink foil applied to the logo, the cover for this release is highly appealing. The central image is that of Hikaru in her uniform pressed up against Ai in her pajamas presents a look that suggests the two of them are about to experience something they don't want. The layout, colors and overall detail is just great looking here and is quite appealing. The back cover on the other hand goes for the gusto with a lot of very explicit visuals from the show surrounding the small summary paragraph about the show. The discs features and technical information is spread out along the bottom which continues to make me wish that they'd adopt a technical grid format, particularly since some of it is duplicated information. Everything is covered there though so they do get credit for that. No insert is included nor is there a reversible cover with a clean back side.Menu:
The menu layout adopts the design of the front cover to nice effect while mixing in a bit of music and navigation to it. The colors here pop just a bit more than the cover and with some of the animation mixed in it just looks good all around. Access times are nice and fast and navigation is straightforward and problem free. ASM releases go the extra mile for the adult anime fan who doesn't want any plot by offering the direct to sex access from the top level as well. The disc did read our players' language presets for the audio but did not for the subtitles, leaving us without any during initial playback.Extras:
The only show related extra included in the release is a brief photo gallery. A bonus feature, about twenty-eight minutes long, is included with the hard subtitled material that's populated ASM releases for ages now. At this point, having seen every ASM release, I wish that these would disappear or at least bring in some new material.Content:

The Kranke spinoff of Night Shift Nurses moves right along with this second OVA in the series as it deals more with the relationship between the three primary characters. While there are plenty of people looking on at what's going on between Hikaru and Dr. Hirasaka, it's nowhere near as bad as they imagine and it's only getting worse.
Hikaru's apparent agreement to marriage to Hirasaka in the first episode is now in question as she tries to play it off as something said in passion. What better way to prove her point than by throwing her in the throes of passion again? Hirasaka has some interesting techniques in his list of skills and the use of the tree is something that I have to admit is new to my eyes. Hikaru's realization that in some way she does love Hirasaka and what he does to her is reinforced throughout the episodes here but none are quite so disturbing as the moments when he leaves her in suspenders while performing an enema. Work calls him away and she's stuck hanging from the rafters while being filled up and all she can think is that it's exactly what she wants. Golden showers have nothing on these brown showers that she proclaims is something that he can do to her every day.
The cleaning bills for that household will truly suck.
While their relationship is as intense as it is, poor Ai is left out in the cold by having to please just herself. This has Hikaru feeling really bad for her since the outlook on Ai's condition isn't good and she may die at any point. The good doctor of course overhears that and puts into motion a plan to help Ai be a woman for the first time, in time before she potentially dies. That means a bit of experimenting going on with a new toy that doubles the pleasure for a single person but also works perfectly for two or more. The entire situation is one that has Hikaru surprisingly concerned about, so much so that while she's in the throes of an enema she can't help but to think of her poor friend. I'm not quite sure that's a compliment to anyone in the end though. In Summary:
Not quite as enjoyable as the Experiment episodes, Night Shift Nurses: Kranke churns out more of what the first episode was like while playing with its simple plot. Yet in its own way, or maybe my own continuing desensitization is playing into this, it's nowhere near as bad as some of the "classic" episodes in the franchise were. Much of the same material is covered but it almost feels a bit quaint. The enemas are here, there's poop flying through the air and you have people hanging from the ceiling or trees while getting their jollies. It's done in the same kind of gloss and style that the franchise is known for and it will surely disturb many but it doesn't break any new ground here. Fans of the franchise will enjoy more of the good doctor but may look elsewhere for something that does something even more disturbing.
