Niles cheers at Raimi's 30 DAYS plans

A day after the announcement Sam Raimi would be directing the big screen version of Steve Niles' vampire tale, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, Niles contacted our own Editor-In-Chief Anthony C. Ferrante about his joy at the developments.
"I couldn't be more thrilled," Niles said, about the prospect of Raimi directing the film version of the comic, which tells the story of an Alaskan town that has a month of night because of the Earth's annual tilt away from the Sun. "I'm excited for the comic, the artist Ben Templesmith, and for IDW Publishing. But I never in a million years would have imagined I'd be working with Sam Raimi. It's an amazing opportunity."
It is, especially because Raimi's last comic book foray was the $400 million blockbuster, SPIDER-MAN, and his next project is SPIDER-MAN 2, starts shooting in January. Raimi's work on 30 DAYS is expected after SPIDER-MAN 2 wraps next year.
