CommingSoon.net had the oppurtunirty to sit in on an editing session with Chris Nolan where the director talked about BATMAN BEGINS and it's sequel.

ComingSoon wrote, "Nolan said he was very surprised by Batman Begins' success, "for the simple reason that I felt we had really poured our hearts out in making a good film and that on our own terms we had succeeded. I never really expected to satisfy critics and Batman fans and regular audiences equally. I mean I thought maybe we'd get two points on the drawing board if you like, but the fact that all three seemed to respond well, that was a big surprise to me. I mean it felt like you were going to lose one aspect or someone... I think we were very fortunate in that regard, it's very gratifying."

"Talking about the follow-up, in which Heath Ledger will play The Joker opposite Christian Bale, he mentioned that they're changing things up. "I think what people responded to well about 'Batman Begins' is how different it was from their expectations so I think we would be foolish to not recognize that and to [try to replicate that now predictable blueprint]. I think we'll be doing something very different for the sequel. I certainly wouldn't have any interest in trying to repeat experience or the formula we've made, because particularly being the origin story, it's a very unique thing, a very singular experience. My interest would sort of be to move on from that and to do something quite different."

"The Dark Knight is coming in June of 2008. The Prestige, starring Hugh Jackman, Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Andy Serkis, Piper Perabo and David Bowie, opens October 20."

Usually when someone starts talking about doing "something different" with a character it scares the sh&t out of me, but I trust Nolan. He has given us a kick ass Batman so far, can't wait to see what his something different is.

OK... I hate to bring SR into this but.... Singer said the same thing look what happen. This has me worry. If I'm not mistaken Nolan wrote all the Blade movies right? Blade III was beyond bad.

You know, looking at the cast of The Presitge there, Piper Perabo would make a good Harley Quinn. And Heath Ledger, despite all the Brokeback jokes, really is a good actor. He'll make a good Joker and NOlan right now, can't do no wrong. (Now that I have officially jinxed this movie, I will go and sacrifice a goat to the God of Movies.)

bowser700...I think David Goyer wrote the Blade movies, but I think he was involved in with Batman Begins, too. Nolan really delivered the goods with the first Batman film, so I think he'll follow up with an equally good sequel. Warner, after the fallout from Superman Returns, isn't about to let Nolan do anything to alienate the fans they brought back after the horrid Batman and Robin. Ledger will make a great Joker and Dark Knight will be a great movie.

Gene Colan was a writer the the 2nd & 3rd Blade movies, maybe that is who you were thinking of?

I definately can't wait for The Dark Knight, I think it will be a great movie.

I can not wait for Dark Knight. I really enjoyed Batman begins. I do not know what all this SR bashing is. I thought SR was right on par and was right there with BB. Can nto wait to own SR too.

"Oppurtunirty?" Every time I read an article on Cinescape it's like watching a monkey dictate poetry.

Ok, did I miss something, Katie Holms is not in it, but we have Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson and David Bowie. when did this occur?

The Prestige is Nolan's next movie, which the article completely and utterly failed to mention it before going on with the cast list and opening date.
