The Xbox and Game Boy Advance ports of TRON 2.0: KILLER APP have now reached store shelves. First released in the summer of 2003 for personal computers, TRON 2.0 returns gamers back to the digital universe first realized in the 1982 movie TRON, except this time there's more to see, do and explore.
The game's story puts you in the boots of Jet Bradley, son of the Bruce Boxleitner character from the 80s film. This time it's Jet that's digitized and placed into the computer world where programs battle other programs for dominance on the game grid. An evil program named Thorne is corrupting the world of Tron and you have to put a stop to him or else both worlds will fall.
The Xbox version of TRON 2.0 features more than 60 single player levels and 10 new, huge multiplayer maps. Old school gamers will remember the disc that each program had, which is still available as a weapon in the new game along with 15 others. Lightcycle combat is also back featuring a newly designed bike by the movie's original concept designer, Syd Mead. Six different modes of combat are included in the game including the ever-popular deathmatch mode, and Xbox Live compatibility means up to 16 players can compete in one session. Finally, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (X-MEN, THE PUNISHER) and Bruce Boxleitner provide character voices for your allies Mercury and Tron, respectively.
If you're more of a GBA gamer, you should know that the code for the classic arcade versions of TRON and DISCS OF TRON are also included with that platform's TRON 2.0 game.
TRON 2.0: KILLER APP has been Teen (Xbox version) and Everyone (Game Boy Advance version) by the ESRB and retail for $39.99 (Xbox) or $25.95 (GBA). Screenshots and further game details can be found at the game's official website, www.tronkillerapp.com.
