Now introducing The Silver Surfer

The USA Today released the first image of The Silver Surfer from the upcoming Fantastic Four sequel, you can view it to the left.

On screen, the Surfer "will look somewhere between gun metal and fluid metallics so you can see the body motion, the breathing, the muscle tone, the mood," says Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad.

If you haven't seen enough, you will get another glimpse come Friday when the Fantastic Four trailer is released attached to Night at the Museum.

I think the surfer looks good, but let's be honest, we won't really be able to give the look a thumbs up or down until we see him in action.  The trailer should tell us a lot more.

i love the picture of the surfer...lets just hope he is utilized the right way and have to agree somewhat, on how we really wont be able to give the look a thumbs up til we see him in action...but damn...so far sooo good...gun metal and fluid metallics have come along way since T2...

I agree that we won't really be able to tell anything until we see the Surfer move and interact with the other characters, but I like the image. I especially like the look on his face; the implied menace.

Let's hope he won't look gayer than Captain America.

Why do Mania.com pics look pixelated when clicking to enlarge while Cinescape's didn't have that issue? This one isn't as bad as some, but it's still there. Just wondering....

As Devin pointed out over at Chud, the image looks like it's airbrushed on the side of a van. They seem to have the right idea, though, and hopefully he looks as good in motion as Avi promises. I'm sure we'll all know later tonight when the trailer hits the web (I sure won't be seeing A Night at the Museum).

Every time I think of FF it makes me sad. I think Jessica Alba is hot, but not right for Sue Storm. Ian Gruffudd sucked in drawing me into the movie as Mr. Fantastic. Thinking about their "sparks" makes me want to vomit. Julian McMahon OBVIOUSLY hated being in the movie and I hated how they changed his origin.

.....this is a glimmer of hope that FF2 won't make me want to shove a dulled wooden spork into my heart...

"If you haven't seen enough, you will get another glimpse come Friday when the Fantastic Four trailer is released attached to Night at the Museum" Is that Today? I mean I know today is friday day but did they mean today or next friday?

Why even bother getting your hopes up. Chances are this will be an awful movie just like the first one was. I mean the FF had no chemistry in the first movie. Even the Thing/Human Torch relationship seemed at best a case of bully vs the ugly kid instead of playful teasing.

The only saving grace was Michael Chiklis and his phenomenal presence as the Thing which made the scenes with him in them somewhat watchable. Aside from that it was all one big special effect. Speaking of those effects...they weren't that good anyway.

I think the visual looks great! I'm pleased with this initial first look. More pleased than I was when I first saw the Transformers images. However, as noted by a few others the true test will be how the Surfer looks in motion. I'm more pleased with the TF's now that I've seen them in motion and hope my pleasure with SS will increase after I see the FF:2 teaser trailer. I may sneak into it after I see Rocky Balboa, again.
