 looks interesting.

OK same one that was leaked yesterday. Yeah I think it looks pretty damn good too..

I got a Matrix vibe, like something the aliens have pulled over their eyes to blind them from the truth. The truth that the aliens actually won and the resources they're collecting is for the aliens

Pendragon0 12/9/2012 5:13:07 AM

I can see something a bit more cynical.  There are the survivors from where ever Cruise's character is from...and survivors who toughed it out on Earth.  The Powers That Be of Cruise's people are secretly exterminating the Earth survivors for whatever reason.

...It also makes me think of a live action Wall-E lol.

Lex0807 12/9/2012 5:22:55 AM

 @Pendragon0: my thoughts exactly

Wiseguy 12/9/2012 5:29:31 AM

Good thought Pendragon but the reason I lean away from that theory is simply that it sounds too close to what Elysium seems to be about.

But hey it wouldn't be the same time Hollywood churned out almost identical films within months of each other

monkeyfoot 12/9/2012 6:13:05 AM

 Yeah, Cruise's Oblivion, Damon's Elysium, and Smith's After Earth. A far future lonely Earth seems to be the in sci-fi idea.

 Trailer looks pretty good. I'm not picky with my post apoc movies. I love that direction in movies. Can't wait to check it out.

 This looks like something worth checking out.  And it's in theaters the day before my birthday.  I'm in!

Tom Cruise, love him or hate him, he almost never picks bad movies, his sense of comedy roles (rock of ages) might not be so great, but then again.....(tropic thunder) he hardly ever makes anything but quality film!

This looks to be totally awesome, I don't think it's gonna be what Pendragon0 suggested, only cuz that's too predictable though a good idea. I like Wise's suggestion of an alien race convincing us that we've won the war and are cleaning up after as a way of suppressing our volatile and rebellious nature, with a group of rebels already on the path back to freedom. Who knows, it could go either way and if it's done right, it'll be great!

I've been waiting for Kosinksi's follow-up to Tron Legacy, I think this guy has serious potential.
