This looks to be worth the time to check it out, with all of the intrigue and questions surrounding the purpose of Cruise's character.  I agree with wish in that he rarely picks crap movies to do, even if not the best character.

On a side note, while poking around for this trailer, I came across The Mortal Instruments - The City of Bone, which is the first in a trilogy of books.  It looks tweenish, but dark enough to appeal to adult viewing.  Maybe that trailer will be up here soon as it is genre material.  (Half human - half angel prophetic warriors battling hidden demons).

Yessir...looks dandy.  I think I have to agree with those theories.  I think that chick he's with in that tower is part of a larger conspiracy trying to hide the fact that humans really didn't win the war.  The rest of the consortium, the head honchos of humanity, want to keep it hidden in order to keep their rule over the human remnants in space.  If they figure out we lost or that the war isn't truly over it could screw up everything they have built and people will want to return to Earth in order to finish the war and kill all the aliens once and for all.

I'm actually excited about this.

I'm guessing there's also been some sort of bargain or deal that was struck between humans and aliens.  We're allowed to leave Earth and in return the aliens agree not to kill us all.  We keep a few of us hovering around to scrounge for resources and for "upkeep" of those drones.  My question though is what the hell is the point of the drones if we've abandoned Earth?

Yea I saw this the other day, I think it looks very well made.

I think it's one of those "We tell them they're for taking scientific measurements, but they're actually killer drone" type situations..

For Tom's sake, does Xenu make an appearance in this movie?

I respect Wiseguy's judgement in all things Geeky (BTW, if you haven't read Geek Wisdom, it's worth a read!), but as I said, my judgement was a cynical one...based both on recent dealings with my fellow human beings...and one Hollywood's inability to come up with an original idea.
