After creating the huge comedic British hit
THE OFFICE, funnyman Ricky Gervais is taking on what he considers his biggest challenge to date: writing an episode of Fox's long-running animated series
THE SIMPSONS. Gervais is writing an episode of the show at the request of
SIMPSONS creator Matt Groening and he'll also provide the voice to one of the characters that will appear in the episode.
"I've got the rough idea, but this is the most intimidating project of my career,"
Variety quotes Gervais as saying about the job. To add further weight to the pressure that Gervais must be feeling, he calls
THE SIMPSONS the "greatest TV show of all time."
THE OFFICE ran for two seasons on the BBC and catapulted Gervais career into the stratosphere in his native England. NBC is developing an American version of the show, which chronicles the day-to-day runnings of an office and the internal politics that go on with its workers.
