Roadside Attractions has released the first poster for their new Sci-Fi pic, BRANDED. If you missed Mania’s first post about the film and its trailer, it is included again below.
QR Codes in the BRANDED poster:
The BRANDED poster includes 4 unique QR codes with additional codes embedded in the film’s website, social pages, trailer and other materials. QR codes enable consumers with a smart phone and a reader app to scan a code in the BRANDED trailer or other marketing materials which will reward them by offering a deeper glimpse into the film's alternative universe of out-of-control brands, consumer gluttony and insatiable materialism through exclusive image and video content. Overall the BRANDED marketing campaign will include 100 QR codes in all. Unlock them all!

Synopsis:
BRANDED is a dark and mind-bending sci-fi thriller into a surreal, dystopian society where mega corporations have unleashed a monstrous global conspiracy to get inside our minds and keep the population disillusioned, dependent and passive.  One man’s quest to unlock the truth behind the conspiracy will lead to an epic battle with the hidden forces that really control our world.

BRANDED stars Ed Stoppard, Leelee Sobieski, Jeffrey Tambor, Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Max Von Sydow.

Does "I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of bubblegum" ring a bell?

Yes, Darth this does have a similarity to They Live, but nearly every single story idea for a movie or TV show is similar to something else that's been done. What makes anyone different and good is 1) not being so similar you are doing a rip-off and 2) how you do your story. The original Alien was similar to numerous B-movies from the 50s but Ridley Scott's execution of made it a classic.

It's always in the execution.

Just based the synopsis, it sounds like "What if Terry Gilliam directed 'The Matrix'?"...could be interesting, I guess.

Has anyone read all the QR codes flashed up in the trailer? Some take you to the face book page, some to the webpage, some to the trailer. I've done 8, and they were numbered 74-81, so I assume they're all different codes through the trailer, so I wondered if anyone had scanned them all....

I had the same thought as everyone else regarding 'They Live'.  Loved that movie.  Also reminds me a bit of 'The Mist'.  Looks unique enough where I'd catch it in the theater.  With a movie like this, could Stephen King's 'Insomniac' be made soon?

whiteandnerdy75 are you talking about Insomnia?
