I am confident that between his talent and his love of Star Wars JJA will make an epic trilogy of Star Wars movies. Bring on, I am so excited it is beyond my comprehension. The fact that full live action post Return of the Jedi movies are even being made is amazing. It is a childhood dream come true.

So all the haters can just stuff it as far as I am concerned. People need to realize that we are f*cking lucky that we are even getting new Star Wars movies.

He is going to be one busy dude.

This is good news for Star Trek. JJ can go fuck over a different franchise and stop screwing up Trek. In all other endevours I like JJ but his self addmitted lack of "getting Trek" just says he should have left it alone.

I agree that this is a dream come true. I think about it sometimes and ask myself, did I really see Avengers live action on the big screen? Was there really a huge scale Batman trilogy? Are we seriously going to get a JLA movie, and you're telling me Star Wars Ep 7 is gonna happen!!?? Childhood dreams happening big time!

 I wanna see some Jedi action like in the game, The Force Unleashed.

This is such awesome news. When they annouced there would be an episode 7 I was sceptical, those rumors have been around since the 90's, but now that they have signed a director, Im a beleiver. Im a huge SW fan and cant wait for this, more Luke and Han, this is soooo great! JJ is a great director, I really liked what he did in Super 8, MI 3 was the best one I thounght. His ST was also good, he gave that franshise some much needed rejuvination. Im a big ST fan, but I hope he doesnt leave ST for SW, doing both would be a big job, but awesome!!

@alienstatue

100% agree. I'm a big Marvel, Star Wars and Gi Joe geek. I'm also ok with some DC stuff but just to hear 2015 will bring us Avengers 2, Star Wars 7 and Justice League is fanboy drool.

Let's not forget a Marvel movie every 8 months from here to 2015. A SHIELD TV show. A potential Star Wars TV show.

It's a great time to be a geek. :)

And to think, all we had in the 90s were Batman movies.

carrie fisher is getting back in shape for leia, mark hamill is working out, so is harrison this is about them not new ppl playing there parts.

 I never felt like SW would forgo anymore SW films that's why I'm not surprised by this, even before Disney bought LucasFilms.

Disney does bring a breath of fresh air to this.

I'm still conflicted on JJ even after letting the news marinate.

To the doubters just go Google "jj abrams huge fan of star wars". He is a huge fan and I think he feels like we do, that he wants awesome Star Wars movies to be made. From this fandom will come respect for the material. I really do not think he will make as many changes as he did with Star Wars because he is not writing the script.

Sure he was not my first choice either, or even my second. But he will do it proud. There is one more reason he will do it proud too.

That is because he knows that if the makes Star Wars movies that are not awesome he will be hated forever. His career may end because of it. His professional life maybe on the line here. At least to some degree. Talk about pressure! 0_0
