Film District has released a new feature for OLDBOY. Check out the new "Josh Brolin Transformation Featurette". The film features Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley. The film is written by Mark Protosevich and directed by Spike Lee.

Synopsis: OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of Joe Doucette, a man who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement, for no apparent reason.  When he is suddenly released without explanation, he begins an obsessive mission to find out who imprisoned him, only to discover that the real mystery is why he was set free.
Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am LegendThe CellThor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.

OLDBOY arrives November 27, 2013.

Just watched the original, man this movie is f***d up.

I don't see this catching much traction since it's a needless remake, probably will flop unless it gets some rave reviews.

It's an adaptation  of the original source material, not a remake of the Korean adaptation.  There are a lot of similarities, but there are a couple of siginificant differences.

It probably won't flop, at least because it's percieved as a remake, because the Korean version is a pretty niche movie, without much mainstream attention.

I think Oldboy came out early on BluRay during the last format wars, and I heard about it then so I watched it and came away unimpressed.   Maybe it would have worked for me as an episode of Twilight Zone or similar short but I think the plot was so far out there (at least for Western Culture) that I just couldn't get into it.

It may flop but it won't be because it's a remake since hardly anyone saw the original

OK  I guess I'm repeating what tiredjay said :)

I saw the Korean version because I won a free dvd from mania, ah the good old days

The incest thing may be a huge turn off for a lot of folk. I know that I've discussed the film with several acquaintances and once that comes up they have said they're not interested

Well Wiseguy...THATS why you don't discuss plot twist details with people who haven't seen movies!  You just tell them that the movie was crazy but you thought it was pretty good and they should check it out too.  Then sit back and wait till they come to you saying OMG WTF?  Then you can laugh and say "I know right?"  But you'll know they liked it too or they would have just told you, Eh...I didn't really like that one.

Damn after watching that I am in but you know I just can't help but wonder if it was Zillabitch who were Oldboy that he would have liked getting d*cked in a*s by some man c*ck sticking through a hole in the wall...

I watched the original and like Sanity said I thought WTF but at the same time I thought it was a great flick.  Looking forward to the update.
