By: Karl Schneider
Date: Wednesday, April 11, 2007

According to Marvel, Omega Flight #1 has sold out at Diamond and in order to meet demand, a second printing and variant cover will be produced.

Press Release:

Marvel is pleased to announce that Omega Flight #1, featuring the debut of Canada's new super team, has sold out at Diamond. Featuring the talents of writer Mike Oeming (Thor) and Scott Kolins (Annihilation: Prologue), the inaugural issue of this limited series has struck a chord with both retailers and fans.

To meet demand for this issue, Marvel Comics is going back to print on Omega Flight #1 with a variant cover featuring interior art by Scott Kolins.

In the wake of Civil War, Canada has put together its own super-team called Omega Flight, the last line of defense for the Great White North against super villain insurgents from abroad. Unfortunately for the Canadians, before Omega Flight can band together, a powerful team of villains have decided to turn their northern neighbor into a playground for plundering.

Note, Omega Flight #1 may still be available at the retailer level. Marvel advises that retailers check their orders for upcoming issues as Omega Flight continues to benefit from strong reviews and word of mouth. Also, don't miss your chance to find out how it all began—check out Alpha Flight Classic Vol.1, in stores now, presenting the first 8 issues of the Canadian superteam's adventures.

I'm Canadian, and I dig that Marvel has bestowed onto us our own hero team. Unfortunately, the only major threat up here in Canada, are stupid kids trying to emulate Compton gangsta life in Toronto.

Damn you originaldave77 you forgot those wacky homegrown Christian terrorists pushing their robotic clone Steven "I'm Mr. Wooden" Harper on the populous in order to push through their vile agenda to take over Canada and turn it into Jesusland!

Then you forgot about the nefarious super villain "Mike Bullard", NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You can't forget him haunting the citizens of Canada, hiding behind the covers of Canada's favourite past time and I don't mean hockey, curling, drinking Tim Horton's coffee, kneeing bears in the privates or watching Ben Mulroney swish his hair ... no the real threat to us is his usage of Canadian television! Yes! The ultimate boob tube hynoptic threat to all of Canada.

Hear his jokes, die a horrible death!

Seriously though Canada has always had it's super team since April 1979 thanks to Marvel and John Byrne called "Alpha Flight"

What I'm desparately waiting for is for Hollywood to make a live-action movie based on them. Now that would be news to me! YUM!

There's only one man who understand the characters of Alpha Flight...and it ain't Mike Oeming.

Ninja, mesa thought Bullard was kicked from the television.

You're right about Harper. He's exactly what he said he'd be. He's delivered on his promises, so I respect that. He's not a dumbass either, like a certain prez...so its not entirely bad.

Yeah I am familiar with Alpha FLight. I'm surprised Marvel keeps trying to reboot it. I think Wolverine should be the team leader-- that would assure big sales.

Ugh. Enough with the Wolverine.

I'm not sure, but when exactly did Beta Ray Bill, Spider-Woman, and that "Captain American clone" (whose name I can never remember) become Canadians?

Call me crazy but if the comic advertises itself as having a Canadian team of heroes shouldn't they at least be made up of Canadians? Especially if the team was created and works for the government.

And all the members better damn well be Bi-lingual otherwise the comic will be totally unbelievable. I mean, come on, Canadian government employees that don't speak French? That's stretching credibility a bit to far.

mallet...While I'm not sure I enjoy the concept of USAgent (you're welcome) being Canadian, I'm assuming that him and Spiderwoman became Canadian during the fallout from "Civil War". As for Beta Ray Bill, hey, if the guy is Thor from another planet, he's not technically American, so I guess he can watch hockey and say "eh" if he wants to. And not all of Canada is French, although French Canadians ARE the funnest to mock.

French is spoken inside Quebec. The father north you go, the less bilingual the populace. In Quebec City, most people speak only French... at least, that was my experience. Outside of Quebec, they mostly speak just English.

"Blame Canada! Blame Canada!"

Before I start reading this, I need someone to explain to me why the Korbinite God of Thunder and the Capt. America wanna-be US Agent are on the Canadian superteam. I mean, I know that in the past there have been foreign citizens on the Avengers, an arguably "American" team of heroes (Thor was a Norse god after all). But I think putting the "US" Agent on the Canadian team is a stretch. Especially for a character like John Walker, who is such a VIOLENTLY pro-American "hero."

Eh. My pull list is long enough as it is.
