
Q: [Fernando Gonzalez Jr] With Studios like Sony and MGM starting to choose sides, as far as what the next High Definition Optical Standard is going to be, are you going to choose a side between Blu-Ray and HD DVD? Are you going to be aggressive in this market?
A: [Matt Greenfield] We are going to be insanely aggressive in this market. And I can't tell you the specific deals, er, details yet but you'll start seeing some things coming up. We were the first company to up res a lot of anime shows to high definition. We've been showing it on television in some of the High Definition channels for a while there.
So we already have materials ready. As soon as the players become available, you'll start seeing stuff. My current understanding is that next year...that the Toshiba format...
A: [David Williams] HD-DVD
A: [Matt Greenfield] Is going to hit in laptops next year.
A: [David Williams] They already announced in the Toshiba laptops. They're releasing a line with HD-DVD players in them.
A: [Matt Greenfield] So that's coming. Keep in mind though, that very little anime has ever actually been produced in true HD. So unless the film's originally done in High Definition, you are not going to look at a full 1080i, you're going to look about a 720p.
