While giving us a first glimpse of the TEKKEN teaser poster, Comingsoon has revealed that another best-selling videogame adaptation is expected to roll cameras in a few months. The site says that ONIMUSHA, based on the Capcom title, will start production in April of 2008. Christopher Gans (Silent Hill) is in charge of directing this title. The film has a 70 million dollar budget and is expected to hit theaters December 2009.

Plot Concept: The story centers on a samurai warrior, Akechi Samanosuke, who embarks on a quest to save the woman (Princess Yuki) he loves and the entire world from falling into hell. First, the samurai must endure through hordes of angry demons and his resurrected nemesis, Nobunaga.

I enjoyed the first 2 Onimusha games. 3 wasn't bad but the story was kinda weird with Jean Reno being in it and all.
Anyway, if they are making this film I hope they keep the game in Japan and in the past, instead of present day France.
It'd be cool if they would cast the actor they used for Onimusha. He's a real actor in China or Japan (can't remember).

P.S. When are they going to finally announce the God of War film? That would be sweet!

Not a video game player but the plot sounds interesting enough and with a 70 mil budget the quality of the film should be pretty good. Looking forward to this since I'm not at all opposed to video game adaptations, in fact I'm all for it.

I enjoyed all there games. Bring on the film, this is going to be good.
I found the fourth game way lame.

Meh. Despite that this will be a samurai fantasy film, I'm hoping it would an authentic Japanese film, with English subtitles (not dubbed voice-over) for English-literate audience.

I hope ABARENBO SHOGUN's Matsudaira Ken will be in it, as some old mentor or villain.

The guy in the artwork above looked like a Korean actor in a K-drama titled SKY HIGH.
