Everyone has a right to be skeptical.  Of the five Superman movies only one is great, one is good and the others are blech.  However,  as is commented it's really hard to get a read on anything without a trailer, much less a plot concept.  The cast is strong , Snyder should be able to handle the direction and Nolan kicked ass in the two Batman movies.  As for Zod, what's not to like about another Kryptonian as the villian?  Granted it was done in Superman II, but I really never got a real sense of power from Zod in the movie.  He was more of the moustash twirling type of villan than a military general.  Zod should be a tactician, a martial arts and weapons expert.  In other words he should be able to kick Superman's untrained butt six ways from Sunday.  And before any of you remind me that Superman was trained in martial arts and tactics by Batman, I'll remind you that they've never connected the two in the movies... yet.

That being said without the plot being released we still don't know if Zod is going to be the ultimate villian in the movie.  Pehaps they are simply setting Zod up for later, perhaps Zod is going to unleash Doomsday or Brainiac as a weapon against Superman (why fight when you can get other to fight for you).  Perhaps Zod is not the game player in the movie, but is himself being used as a weapon by Darkseid,  The point is until some actual details come out there is no real way to get a vibe for how the movie is going to be.

I think the pieces are in place for a great movie, but will obviously wait for some footage or trailers to start forming an opinion.  Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.

Snyder directing this is what gives me hope. Nolan is only attached in name, how involved can he be when his knee deep in that other bullshit series he's in charge of

I'm have to agree with Wiseguy, Nolan needs to get this shit on track. Which I'm sure he will.

Hopefully this will be a runaway success much like Mr. Nolan did with Batman. The fans were skeptical of that in the beginning to.

So, the only AMERICAN is gonna die early on in the film, (Costner)? Dunno...

Nolan is so overrated i dont get it. Im GLAD he is only attached in name. But at the same time I have my doubts with this one as well.

I liked Green Lantern, but it should have, hands down, been the most talked about great, epic movie all summer. It has that potential. Then seeing the clips from the Wonder Woman series Pilot. WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP. and.... Jonah Hex (nuff said).

Warner Needs to clean house at their company start their approach over. And DC needs to fire Diane Nelson. Geoff Johns can handle it just fine, and with the proper care that Marvel is putting towards their movies.

This Superman movie sounds like crap from the moment they hinted what its about. Zod and Superman finding himself. REALLY? AGAIN????

WTF is wrong with you Warner Bros.?

Depends on the day of the week as to whether or not I feel good or bad about this flick.  Looking forward to seeing some pics/footage before forming a definite opinion.  Kind of felt the same way about Green Lantern.  That movie turned out about as good as I could have hoped for once I saw Ryan Reynolds in costume (which was a bit of a disappointment).

However at the end of the day, if Nolan is in charge of the story and Snyder is in charge of the visuals/action, then that bodes very well for the film.  :)

@wish,

Alot of the actresses of their age can't find as many roles as they used to. When women actors are around 40 to 60 years of age, lots of movies and TV don't write many good roles for them. There are lots of roles for the sexy girl and then there are many parts for older grandmother types, but mainstream Hollywood often neglects middle-aged women.

Like in the movie Taken, Liam Neeson's wife is beautiful young January Jones not someone close to Neeson's age. The Bond girls are always younger than whoever plays 007.

I'm certainly not complaining about sexy hot young starlets but I know that alot of 40 & 50-something actresses get tired of only being offered the part of the concerned mother of the main character.

I like the sounds of this movie for sure. Great cast and creative team. I'm also not as excited about Zod again, but I trust Goyer and the Nolans. I think a Sequel could be Luthor and Matello... with maybe an intro to Braniac at the end. As long as there is someone Bad Ass to fight Superman one on one with each film I will be happy.

I also agree with Monkeyfoot about the middle aged women, we need more Cougars on the screen I think. Nothing wrong with a sexy mature woman. ie: Renee Russo in Thomas Crown and Diane Lane in Unfaithful, both 40's in those rolls.

Zod appears in the first scene and is ripped apart by Brainiac!
