 The Dark Knight is boss.

Why so serious?

We all know what type of pictires get noms for the most part. It's almost always dramas. The Oscars needs to just add a new category for "best sci/fi, action/fantasy film"

Oh and btw even though I enjoyed it I don't think Skyfall should have been nominated.

Oscars mean nothing these days.  Just a fashion show.  Maybe we get hints for "good" projects coming up with the interviews all in one place.  Have to be careful not to broaden them up anyway for movies like Avengers because then movies like twilight get a chance for Oscars.

I stopped caring about the Oscars years ago because of all the ass kissing and brown nosing.  The Academy voters are consumed with their own tastes in art, and the celebrities who show up turn the fiesta into a fashion show.  It's really offensive to intelligence as a whole, so I don't plan on watching it at all.  I'll catch the Bond tribute on YouTube a day or two later.

People are still talking about Dark Knight? Dear Zod, when is that going to end? As far as Skyfall getting snubbed, I get why. It was boring. Granted, at least no one played Hold Em in this one, but it was still pretty bum. Then again, people seem to be enjoying the new Die Hard POS, so what do I know?

I would love to see all six 007s on stage at the same time.  It would be incredible.  I would watch the Oscars for that alone, then change the channel when it they left the stage.  It is what I had thought they had missed as a goldeneye opportunity during the queen's opening bond schtick for the olympics.  A best sci-fi - fantasy category might get me to watch the Oscars again.

Besides all the Bonds there, a great montage of 007 scenes, I'd love to hear host McFarlane make a joke exactly about this topic. It would probably elicit a gasp from the audience to mention such things but he's supposed to be a edgy host  so why not?

Despite this, I almost always watch the Oscars, usually all the way through. It's just my love of the movie busin ess and the glamour and coolness of what I've always considered THE award show. Even if I'm not interested in some of the movies nominated.

Yeah, I could be all cynical and snarky and bitter and "meh" about it. But there is loads of that all over the web and in the world. That's too easy. This is just one of those events I like to be a wide-eyed innocent kid and see everything magical for awhile.

Avengers should have been nominated best picture.

It was a genre film that was #1 at the box office much like Avatar. Not only that but Avatar has 83% on RT while Avengers has 92%. So if a lot of critics loved it? Why no appreciation?

ElBaz13 2/19/2013 8:15:42 AM

If there was a best sci-fi/fantasy/action category, then the 5 would be:

Looper, Avengers, Skyfall, Dark Knight Rises and Cabin in the Woods.

Muenster 2/19/2013 9:32:37 AM

The very egoist nature of 99% of all performing artists and their associated money handlers has allowed the creation and distribution of so many different awards presentations that the The Oscars have become irrelevant. Compounding the uselessness of the Oscars is that all too often the "Best" title is doled out for petty, political, and even  out of fairness.
