How do you take a simple Hasbro brand like Ouija and turn it into a supernatural action-adventure movie? Well, Universal believes they have found the right men, tasking the Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to pen the board game-to-screen adaptation, reports HR's Heat Vision. The film is being produced by Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form as well as Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro.
The studio is looking at the project as a supernatural action-adventure movie. It is possible that certain rules of the game — never use it alone, never use it in a graveyard, always say good-bye — figure into the plot.
Ouija boards, also known as spirit or talking boards, have been used to communicate with the spirit world for more than 200 decades. The board as its known today was manufactured by William Fuld in the 1890s, then acquired by Parker Bros. in 1966. Hasbro reports that more than 12 million copies have been sold since acquiring Parker Bros. in 1991.

Yeah, I'm remembering an entire series of movies with the Ouija board as the main fixture. I think they were called "Witchboard"
The fact that anyone would want to turn a board used to contact demonic spirits (what else are they?) is the epitome of irresponsibility. It's not Monopoly or Candyland. It's not good family fun. It's downright dangerous and folks who don't see that are one day gonna get caught out there with their pants down. It's going to be really awful.
And now someone wants to make a movie about it. Here's to the blind, deaf and dumb.
Yes WK, and they were bad. Very bad. Okay, the first one was bad; I didn't get passed it. But then I did see the questionablye-spin-off Witchtrap... a small piece of me died that day.
Ohh screw this, lol. People are Afraid to have a Ouija board in there homes so they are going to show a big one in theatres. Can anyone say Demon release en masse? lol. Lets all get possessed at once or better lets take a Demon home with us. What better prize to get with your Popcorn. Hahahaha.
Yeah, WhiteKnight, James Spader was actually in the first Witchboard...liked it when I was a kid...am I the only one hoping to see them do it like Jumanji and Zathura?...LOL...kids have a magical adventure when the game actually takes them to HELL.
I think this was already done official in a movie before years ago. Long and forgoten movie I suppose.
