How do you take a simple Hasbro brand like Ouija and turn it into a supernatural action-adventure movie? Well, Universal believes they have found the right men, tasking the Tron Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to pen the board game-to-screen adaptation, reports HR's Heat Vision. The film is being produced by Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form as well as Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir of Hasbro.

The studio is looking at the project as a supernatural action-adventure movie. It is possible that certain rules of the game — never use it alone, never use it in a graveyard, always say good-bye — figure into the plot.

Ouija boards, also known as spirit or talking boards, have been used to communicate with the spirit world for more than 200 decades. The board as its known today was manufactured by William Fuld in the 1890s, then acquired by Parker Bros. in 1966. Hasbro reports that more than 12 million copies have been sold since acquiring Parker Bros. in 1991.

Yeah, I'm remembering an entire series of movies with the Ouija board as the main fixture. I think they were called "Witchboard"

The fact that anyone would want to turn a board used to contact demonic spirits (what else are they?) is the epitome of irresponsibility. It's not Monopoly or Candyland. It's not good family fun. It's downright dangerous and folks who don't see that are one day gonna get caught out there with their pants down. It's going to be really awful.

And now someone wants to make a movie about it. Here's to the blind, deaf and dumb.

Yes WK, and they were bad.  Very bad.  Okay, the first one was bad; I didn't get passed it.  But then I did see the questionablye-spin-off Witchtrap... a small piece of me died that day.
