What They Say
Viva high school life! Akira might not be able to ward off beautiful Rei's advances much longer, and on top of everything else, classmates Tamaki and Hiyori as well as the mysterious school president all have something to say about their relationship. The new school year brings a brand new set of problems for the Takatoh boys.

The Review
I was getting rather bored with the interaction between Akira and Rei by the end of the second volume. Luckily this third book sends the boys to high school and introduces some much need auxiliary characters. The author has set up two mirror characters for Akira and Rei to become friends with. Hyori is a shorter boy just like Akira and quite shy. Also like Akira, Hyori is basically a plaything for his intelligent, pretty boy friend, Tamaki. Not surprisingly, Tamaki and Rei become competitors in sports but Rei doesn't care about his grades even though he would be just as smart as Tamaki.

Tamaki is the nephew of their high school principal, who hates the Tantakou family. So the principal wants Tamaki to discover a way to humiliate Akira and Rei. Shouldn't be hard, all Tamaki has to do is turn Akira and Rei against each other. To do this he shows Akira how controlling and childishly jealous Rei acts. Then Tamaki tells Rei he needs to be more independent. This effectively causes Akira to question Rei's attitude, while at the same time Rei begins to act a little more aloof to Akira while at school.

It is still too soon to tell how long this interaction will play out between Akira and Rei. However, Rei's new independent streak does cause Akira to become a little jealous for the first time. So maybe Tamaki's plan will backfire and cause Akira and Rei to grow even closer than before.
