Director Zack Snyder (300) is expected to announce his cast for WATCHMEN later this week at the Comic Con 2007 event. That's not stopping some of those names from being released before the show. Yesterday, Ackerman was announced to be playing "The Silk Spectre". Today, our friends over at IESB are saying that Matthew Goode (The Lookout) will be portraying Adrian Veidt/Oxymandias.

This is the current casting as well know it; Matthew Goode as Adrian Veidt/Oxymandias, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach, Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan, Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl, and Malin Ackerman as Silk Spectre.

WATCHMEN hits theaters sometime in 2008.

Nice...aside from Billy Crudrup, I don't think I've heard of any of these people. Sometimes having mostly no-names can have a big pay off. Still not sure how this story will translate to film, but I can't wait to find out.

Wow, Jackie from Bad News Bears is a lead in a film. Of course, his face is covered through most of the story. INteresting, I didn't even know the guy was still acting.

Wow. I like this lineup so far. No one overwhelmingly popular will help this story focus on the characters more than action. JEH as Rorschach could be an inspired choice much like Mickey Rourke was for Sin City. Cool.

Also, many of you may remember Malin Ackerman as Freakshow's incredibly hot wife, Liane, in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

Wow, I'm kind of disappointed. These characters are a bit older, with the exception of Dr. Manhattan. I'll check this out but bad casting, IMO.

Hey Jarrod, it's spelled 'Ozymandias', FYI.

I just don't know anymore. At first I was psyched for this but now, I just don't know. I always thought Ian McShane would make a great Comedian, Ian McKellan as Moloch, Laura Dern as Silk Spectre's Mom and Gretchen Moll as the daughter, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Nite Owl, Paul Newman in his last role as the original Nite Owl, and man I can't think anymore and now that I look at my list, Ian McShane is the only good pick for any of these. See? I'm just flummoxed!

Ackerman has gueat starred in a lot of shows and had a regular gig in the shortlived Lisa Kudrow show "The Comeback"
