POSTER: Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

International Poster

By Robert T. Trate     May 12, 2013
Source: Geek Tyrant

Here is the international poster for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Personally, I never saw the first one. Is it worth catching up on Maniacs? Sound off below and let the uninitiated know.

The Plot: The story takes Jackson to the mythical land known as Sea of Monsters to retrieve a golden fleece that is essential to saving an ailing magical tree that protects his home, Camp Half-Blood. He departs with his Olympian sidekicks Annabeth Chase, daughter of the goddess Athena, and Jackson's protective goat-like satyr Grover.

The film features Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Douglas Smith, Mary Birdsong, Yvette Nicole Brown, Missi Pyle, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Head, Paloma Kwiatkowski, Leven Rambin, Stanley Tucci, Robert Maillet, and Zoe Aggeliki.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters arrives August 16th, 2013.

Honestly Robert, the first one is somewhat enjoyable and a mediochre adaptation of the books, which in and of themselves were mediochre in my opinion.  I found they got quite repetitive the further along I got in the series.  Hopefully that's not the same for the films.

thanks. So a lazy rainy Sunday type of movie?

The first one if you have never read the books is nice... it got my attention enough that I actually did read the books (I've never read a Harry Potter novel) Since reading all the published books.... I can't make it through the movie at all because it just poops on the books best elements.

Keep in mind the character Percy is 13 in this book... and the actors are
(During filming)
Logan Lerman 20
Alexandra Daddario 26
Brandon Jackson 28 (though grover is actually about 26 in the books being a satyr 26 is about 12-14 in human years)

The first movie ignores several things that are important to the books ie the actual plot.

Basically I'm going to see this (as a rental) and if it is still a mess plot wise I'll pass on the rest.

I happened to like the first movie and thought it was pretty good. It got me to read the books which imho were all pretty good and had a good storyline through out even into the second series of novels. Not sure how well the second movie will follow the second book, but it should be interesting either way. I'd say check out the first movie.

Like Kaziklu, I read the books after seeing the first one as well and had the same thoughts: HP clone, but you learn a crap load of Greek mythology. Judging by the trailer for the new one, it looks like they're trying to bring in the larger plot elements they cut out of the first books (Golden Coffin, Clarisse, etc.).

I say at this point, give up on trying to age the kids a year every movie and just make it owns thing, using plot elements from the book. They waited way too long to make a sequel, so I will be very surprised if a third one gets green-lit. Definitely a rental.

I liked the first one better than Hunger Games. I would take my kid to see this over the second Hunger Game movie (he read both series).

I'm just saying.

the movie sounds as dumb as the looks on their faces...

Do they not realize that the poster is in Spanish?

Kaziklu 5/14/2013 6:56:51 PM

well that is the language they speak in Argentina.. it would be silly for the poster to be in Russian.
