 Here is the latest viral video from The Pacific Rim. This is a test for the Kaiju Emergency Alert System. With the holidays coming and director Guillermo del Toro's ties to The Hobbit look for some cross marketing campaigns at the theater.
 
The Plot: In the film, legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, start rising from the sea and begin a war that would takes millions of lives and consumes humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
The film features Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr., and Diego Klattenhoff.
 
The Pacific Rim opens July 12th, 2013.

 Me too. Del Toro FTW.  This movie is going to kick ass.  Then I dearly hope he does Hellboy 3.

It would've been much more awesome if you heard the tv station being destroyed just as the test was wrapping up.

Yeah looking forward to this. Hopefully this'll be the film that raises GDT to more than just a fanboy favorite and hopefully lets him make At the Mountains of Madness sometime in the near future

 The other viral video is linked to this one. It appears to show actual footage from the movie. This movie is a dream come true to an ol Godzilla fan like me.

WTH ok an I missing something.  Is this like a movie made from an old Japanese cartoon?  I don't get it.  Not saying it won't be good, just WTH!

It is an homage to Japanese monster movies a la Godzilla and Mothra, except Del Toro style. Which means it will OWN.
