Adrianne Palicki wearing the Wonder Woman costume on set of NBC's new pilot

Adrianne Palicki may have fell short of becoming a certain superhero on the small screen but it looks like the actress will still become a certain comic character on the silver screen next summer. Deadline is reporting that the woman who almost became "Wonder Woman" is the latest to board Paramount's fast-tracking untitled G.I. Joe sequel. The online trade reports she will become Lady Jaye, the fan-friendly intelligence operative who is a key part of the Joe team.

Paliki joins the previously confirmed stars Channing Tatum (Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Byung Hun-lee (Stormshadow), Elodie Yung (Jinx), RZA (Blind Master) and DJ Cotrona (Flint). With the enlistment of Paliki, there was also word that the original Joe, Joe Colton, is one key part remaining to be cast and that Bruce Willis is among the list of a candidates reportedly in the running for the role.

Production on the sequel is set to begin shortly under the directing guidance of John Chu (Step Up 3D), based on a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

While we have no plot concept to pass along at the moment, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently told MTV Movies that Dwayne Johnson's Roadblock character will be a leading part of the story and "The ninja fans are going to love it. There's a tremendous amount of it. What's interesting is, we both have that going on in the Snake Eyes story, but we've found a way to bring that element into the Joes' story. I think anybody who's a fan of dark, in the middle of the night [action with] a dangerous foe arriving, this is a movie for you."

G.I. Joe 2 will arrive in theaters August 10, 2012.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Everything, I swear to God, EVERYTHING I hear about this movie makes me think it's going to suck harder than the first one, and I did NOT think that was possible...FOR GOD'S SAKE LET LARRY HAMA WRITE THE DAMN MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

why did anyone even release the pastie slip of this girl. I think that is the real reason wonderwoman didn't get picked up, they kept haveing to reshoot because her boobs kept falling out.

My apologies for being ignorant on the subject, but how the hell does Stormshadow get back in on this deal?  It sure looked final for him in the first movie but I guess no one really dies in the Hasbro universe.

Okay, I know I talk smack about a lot of movies, but something about the first G.I.Joe movie...I literally could not make it through the entire thing.  I gave it the old college try...I watched 40 minutes of it before I had to turn it off because it was REALLY that bad.  At least with Transformers 3 I'm open to seeing it if my buddy pays for it...a G.I.Joe sequel sounds like something they would show me in between waterboarding sessions.

I want Shipwreck dammit!!!

Hmmm, with the long black hair I assumed she would be playing a recast Baroness!

Lady Jay has short brown hair...

But with Flint in the movie Jaye made sense!

Maybe I'm an optimist (suddenly) or maybe I just have faith in Dwayne Johnson... I feel a tiny glimmer of hope that this movie won't suck horribly like the last one.  I dare to dream.

Hey wildwestie, no one really dies in th DC or Marvel universes either.
