Adrianne Palicki may have fell short of becoming a certain superhero on the small screen but it looks like the actress will still become a certain comic character on the silver screen next summer. Deadline is reporting that the woman who almost became "Wonder Woman" is the latest to board Paramount's fast-tracking untitled G.I. Joe sequel. The online trade reports she will become Lady Jaye, the fan-friendly intelligence operative who is a key part of the Joe team.
Paliki joins the previously confirmed stars Channing Tatum (Duke), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Byung Hun-lee (Stormshadow), Elodie Yung (Jinx), RZA (Blind Master) and DJ Cotrona (Flint). With the enlistment of Paliki, there was also word that the original Joe, Joe Colton, is one key part remaining to be cast and that Bruce Willis is among the list of a candidates reportedly in the running for the role.
Production on the sequel is set to begin shortly under the directing guidance of John Chu (Step Up 3D), based on a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
While we have no plot concept to pass along at the moment, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently told MTV Movies that Dwayne Johnson's Roadblock character will be a leading part of the story and "The ninja fans are going to love it. There's a tremendous amount of it. What's interesting is, we both have that going on in the Snake Eyes story, but we've found a way to bring that element into the Joes' story. I think anybody who's a fan of dark, in the middle of the night [action with] a dangerous foe arriving, this is a movie for you."
G.I. Joe 2 will arrive in theaters August 10, 2012.
