Paramount has confirmed their desire for a sequel from director Matt Reeves two weeks after the film hit theaters. There have been whispers and we've been expecting an official announcement.  Now, it's been confirmed through the latest press release from Variety. They hope to have director Reeves, producer J.J Abrams and scribe Drew Goddard signed on board soon for this sequel and a new feature called The Invisible Woman. The timing on the two films depends on how fast they can get the principals signed...

Trade also says it's likely that Cloverfield 2 will be first while "Invisible" comes after..The latter film was penned by Reeves, who will produce alongside Abrams and through GreeneStreet Prod.'s John Penotti, Fisher Stevens and Tim Williams.

Plot Concept for Invisible: "Woman" is a Hitchcock-style thriller that probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect her family.

Leave Mecha-Cloverfield alone ! ;) lol.

Just kidding. Hate if you must I thought the first CF rocked, just hope the sequel isn't a Blair Witch 2 type of deal. Ugh. Sometimes less is more.

Well the marketing campaign for Cloverfield was impressive. The movie was pretty good accept for the really shaky scenes. I think if they do a sequel they should combine standard filming with amateur style filming. Also give us some more back story about the monster

oooh... maybe they'll show us the whole day in Coney Island that was recorded over.

Because that seemed more interesting.

Cool. I wonder if they'll subtitle it "Cloverfield 2: The End We Meant to Give You Before".

I loved Cloverfield, but I think it would work best as a stand alone movie. It was kind of fresh and exciting new take on monster movies. I mean, they would have to do a whole new approach to it, ala, 28 Weeks Later, although I really did enjoy 28 Weeks Later. I agree that if a sequal gets made, it should be a blend of traditional and amateur filmmking. Well, being I have no choice that a sequal wiill be made, I will just keep an open mind and see what happens with it.

As far as a sequel for this goes, it should be same day as the bombings, looking for survivors, super realistic, but traditionally shot. New cast, same basic story, except MAYBE being the big momma clovie out of the water...DUN DUN DUNNNNNN.

Cloverfield is my favorite movie of the year so far! I can't wait for another. I don't get how the public is split on this. There was a clear ending with a tease for another standard movie stuff. They did a great job with a respectable budget. No big name actors to trip over. I am tired of the big names anyway takes away from the movie thinking about all the movies the big star has done before.

Can't wait. Loved the first one.

I like the idea they were tossing around of showing the same night and same events from the perspective of new characters.
