PARANORMAL Sequel Developing

Paramount thinking about sequel to Paranormal Activity.

Confirming earlier reports from the film's wide release a few weekends ago, HR says Paramount Pictures is looking at a sequel to current hit release Paranormal Activity. In Viacom's earnings call Tuesday morning, CEO Philippe Dauman said the movie has been one of those surprise hits that comes along only rarely.

Given that a follow-up release wouldn't have the same element of surprise as "Paranormal," it will be key to craft a smart approach to a sequel, he said. "Our team will come up with the right creative and marketing approach," he told analysts.

Paranormal Activity has earned $85.8 million since opening into limited theaters September 25, 2009. It's been in the top 3 spots every weekend since opening wide on October 16, 2009.

It's very encouraging to see a film like Paranormal Activity do so well! It goes to show us that a film doesn't have to have an oversized budget, excessive effects, huge crews,a big marketing campaign, big stars etc. in order to have a great movie and for it to do well at the box office! Those involved in the making of PA,especially the director, have won my respect. Good on them!!! I've written a horror script that I've been giving a polish to recently and thought that I would need to find a studio or production company in order to finance it. I thought that that was the only plausible manner in which I could have my script made into a movie but since PA has come out, they've shown the world that the reign of the big studios being the only way to make films as good as them are over!!! I know The Blair Witch Project came out ten years ago and many were saying similar things about it at the time but the budget for that film was $20-25,000 to start and then some more was spent to redo some scenes and more was spent for markrting etc. Eventually,TBWP ended up costing between $500-750,000 and the average person at the time as well as now cannot afford that. However,PA,was made for only $15,000 and word of mouth is what generated it's marketing and so the average person who's inclined to make their own films and see them succeed can do so! Seriously, when I can get some more money together next year,I'll develop my horror script into my own feature, the hell with the studios!!!

I was afraid of this. In my original review, i even said "i just hope this doesnt turn into Paranormal Activity: Book of Shadows"

... looks like thats where this is headed.

lets see the alternate endings first.

Keithdaniel- Really? Clerks, Slackers, El Mariachi, and on and on we can go. Hundreds of movies a year are made for 15,000 or less but they suck. I bet we are also not getting the truth about the production costs to film were 15, then another 10 in editing another 20 in effects and sound and packaging, and finally about 10,000,000 or more to put commercials on my nightly shows saying "If you want PA you need to demand it". Come on this is horse $hit. It feels to me you got suckered by a marketing campaign. 13 million is still cheep for the bucket of cash they will make but this is a "big" movie in everyway. I hope your film gets made and that you out perform PA. God Bless you for going for it. Just don’t fool yourself that allot of studio investment went into what you see in the theaters. Put the best story you can on film and work your a$$ off and prey for the rest.

Yea and sorry but I smell BW2 on the horizon for PA2 just like Flint.

I definitely appreciate movies like Paranormal Activity but now that Hollywood has more control over a sequel i'm afraid that they will destroy it.  As far as the first one, the movie captured the right mood and it worked out.  I love when the indie filmmakers get their chance to shine on a massive scale.

Um what  a stupid idea.

This was one of the most well crafted horror movies in years, genuinely scary.

It lets your mind do all the work, and what is scarier than your imagination? Well getting drunk in a room of fat horny chicks maybe...Hey fat chicks need love too....but they gotta' pay

ANYWAY I digress...

The first one GENIUS!

The sequel...

I'll never know cause I'll never see the filthy mutherfuqer.

BTW

HANSO OWNS ZINGERS, SON!
