Definitely, Freeman's character died "twice" in the film and he had terminal cancer. Flashback?

Retired, extremely dangerous operatives out of the C.I.A. never truly stay retired. At least not in Hollywood. Such is the case here with Summit Entertainment activating another mission for the stars of RED and setting Dean Parisot in the director's chair for a sequel. It's been a few years since Parisot made a feature film (Fun with Dick in Jane) and most genre fans will know his work primarily from 1999's Galaxy Quest. THR reports that Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren are all expected to reprise their roles in RED 2, with production expected to kick off later this year.
Plot Concept: Based on the D.C. Comics graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner, "RED 2" reunites our team of "retired, extremely dangerous" CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe.
RED 2 will enter theaters August 2, 2013.

something off-topic here: Where are the actual comic book reviews? I think the last one was sometime last year, since then the only things in Mania's comic section has been movies and tv shows based on comics. I want to talk about what's happening with Marvel, DC, and the others.
Hope they call the sequel to this "Redder" (or even "Blue", for that matter). Loved the movie, looking forward to another one.
As for Morgan Freeman's character... it isn't exactly like bringing a character back from the dead is a new twist the movie industry has never used before. So I wouldn't rule anything out.
I thought Morgan Freeman's character was killed... maybe they used a defibrulator on him.
