Paramount Pictures has officially given MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 the go-ahead. The production will begin July 18th.

For the last few days the studio has been in "intense negotiations to rein in a budget north of $150 million and a gross payout to Cruise of 30%." Cruise and Paramount came to an agreement in which the budget was trimmed by at least 10% along with eliminating plans to shoot in Shanghai and several other exotic locations. Cruise also agreed to changes in his pay.

Its funny that the Mission Impossible TV series is quite different with its counterpart in the movies. Tom Cruise is Ethan Hunt should be the title rather than Mission Impossible. Perhaps its best to recruit Jason Bourne, Charlie's angels and even Austin Powers

Don't know why Cruise thinks he needs to do another one. Money cant be the reason...well...maybe its just ego...or more scientology mumbo jumbo reasons...who knows with him.

Actually the title "Tom Cruise is Great" is much more appropriate. Just don't forget the obligatory eye-roll.

I don't really know how I feel about this. I was never to psyched about the first two, and I felt they were all James Bondish but missing that razzle dazzle of the Bond films. Though here lately JJ Abrams has the Midus touch when it comes to success...so who knows this one could actually be watchable and not some cheesey John Woo over the top film.

I'm actually excited to see what JJ Abrams has up his sleeve. Look what he has done with his TV projects, both of them are two of the top quality shows on TV, they have excellent character and story development that makes you come back week after week, or in some lucky people's case, use their TiVo.

Now imagine what he can do with a bigger budget, less rating inhibitions, and a strong leading actor. He does a great job of supporting characters that play off of one another and he will definitely raise the bar and make this the best Mission Impossible movie out of the series.

I can not wait to see this movie along with Superman and the Posiedon Adventure; I was excited to see X3 until a new visionary was given the reigns, I mean Brett Ratner isn't a horrible director, he produces medium to above-average movies but for Avi and company to hand him the directors chair on this franchise was a dissapointment, he is just not the type of director.

MI-2 was so bad that I had a hard time even considering that it was a sequel to the first Mission Impossible movie. MI-2 was a blatant attempt to employ ‘Matrix’ style action minus the plot. It was like they forgot what made Mission Impossible a good movie; taking the TV series and expounding on it in a clever way. If they make MI-3 like they did MI-2, they may as well not even bother releasing it in theaters, but rather make it a direct to DVD movie because that is all that it would be worth.

the mission impossible tv show was a sharp and always at the end the final twist in the plot to bad guys . the movies other than the first one that was more confusing than cleaver, was alot better than John Woo's action flick, that had nothing to do with mission impossible other than a title . this movie is about bucks , not fans to of show or sequel.Chris Nolon would be excellent director for this type of flick , but some other dude has job. yes , good question : why is Mr Cruise doing a third sequel on a such a stinker of project other than owing the cheapo Paramont studio a movie .you really cant put Tom Cruise down , he puts out more projects than many , and suceses in doing so , i just wish Bruce Willis had same resume. lets see how well War Of The Worlds turns out to be .

i hear in MI:3 Hunt falls in love with some teenager (kidnaps and hypnotizes), then goes on oprah and jumps all over her couch like an idiot....sounds better than MI:2 so far

Vedder you're so right man...ever since Tom Cruise hooked up with Katie Holmes he's been acting creepy. I mean I always thought the guy was kinda fruity, but seeing him drag around Katie Holmes almost makes me certain he's a fruit.

Anyway here's to hopeing that things work out well for JJ, because the guy's talented and I wanna see more of his stuff.
