According to figures released by Fox Home Video, Mel Gibson's THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST DVD sold an amazing 4.1 million copies on its first day of release, yesterday. If the strong sales for the title continue on it will likely claim the crown of the bestselling DVD of all time, a distinction currently held by THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING DVD.
Surprisingly, the data also suggests that individual consumers are buying more than one copy of the DVD when they pick it up. According to the company an average of 1.8 units of THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST are being sold to each consumer.
