I personally hope they stay with Pym. I never liked wither two of the Ant-Man incarnations as I thought they were lame. Pym is Ant-Man. All Rudd has to do is watch Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heros and copy Pym from that. Then it will be perfect.

I also still want Morena Baccarin for the part of Wasp if they bring her in.  She would be perfect!

I'm with Axia...stick with Pym.  At least to start anyway.  Too much can get confusing and irritating to the viewer.  Keep it simple and just do your origin story with some movement into the Avengers.

Totally clueless about Antman the comic book character but I know Rudd (I've seen him in at least a half dozen films, he's in the new anchorman sequel which may be the most hyped movie ever, and hell, he just hosted Saturday Night Live.  His selection for the lead role makes me think this Antman film is going to be played for laughs like Honey I Shrunk the Kids or The Incredible Shrinking Woman...which makes me think he won't be doing a cameo appearance in Avengers 2 unless they feel the need to inject a little comic relief beyond RDJ's witty sarcasm.

Actually just visited this thread to say that it would be interesting if Mania allowed the Maniacs to select their "Best of comics, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, anime and video games.  Last year the only best of 2012 list Mania did was Rob Vaux's best movies...which was a minor fiasco as Vaux apparently went with his wife to see Les Miserables right before he made his list...the movie made them cry...and he chose it as the best film of 2012 hardly what you'd expect to see on a "Genre" website.

It won't be played for laughs the humor in it will be more in line with the humor in the other Marvel films. Wright has said it "won't be a straight up comedy."

Yes Paul Rudd was "Very excited".  I think ANYBODY would be super excited, or atleast act super excited knowing ur about to join one of the most MONEY-making franchises of all time.

"continuing the studio’s desire to cast actors that bring several dimensions to its onscreen heroes"

Really now. Rudd has "acted" in the same, deadpanned approach for every film in which he's been cast. In fact you could say he's been playing the same character for his entire career. In all honesty, I just don't see his appeal. Someone please guide me towards a single film that showcases his dynamic range. I have yet to see anything where he isn't playing a carbon copy of each previous role.

@eleaseTheseFeces - You complain about Rudd yet douche bags like Keanu Reeves have been getting jobs for decades. I am pretty sure Rudd can handle a role like Hank Pym. It is not a role that inspires "Oscar" worthy excitement. Sorry, Pym rocks, but it is true. All Rudd has to do is arrogant, semi-conceited, and serious about all things science. It is not really hard.

Pym is my second favorite Marvel character behind Hank McCoy, so I can say that I am very disappointed with Rudd being chosen.. The die is cast now though, so hopefully he won't play it like every other character he's played, as himself.. The guy has no sense of character.. Jeffery Donovan is still my pick..

It's known that I campaigned for Simon Pegg. I still think he would've been a good choice.

But I think Paul Rudd is an exciting choice. It's a light-hearted choice- but more balanced than Pegg. I love that kind of fearless, but smart casting. I'm thinking Rudd is gonna do for Ant-Man what Downey, Jr. did for Iron Man.
