HBO Scraps Adaptation of PREACHER - Aug 27, 2008 - 07:32am
I'd be surprised if violence or controversy are the real reasons behind HBO not going with Preacher. HBO has never shied away from violence (Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome) or controversy (Big Love, Bill Maher), so I find those excuses lacking. I love the comic, love the stories and the characters, but perhaps the material offered to HBO wasn't up to the level HBO desired. They're are producing some excellent entertainment at this time, and perhaps felt Preacher wasn't suitable for where they're heading. I am highly disappointed though. I would have loved to have seen what could have been one with the characters. Oh well, maybe a movie would suffice, but I doubt it.

TROPIC THUNDER - Aug 13, 2008 - 02:12pm
Just got back from watching Tropic Thunder. Haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long time. One thing... keep your eyes open. There are a number of subtle jokes throughout the film that just make it all that much more fun. Robert Downey's performance is amazing. I understand everyone is all excited about Cruise, but I have to say, his was the only part of the movie I wasn't overally thrilled with. There is a part at the end which is how you'll remember him in the film and that will leave you laughing, but overall, I wasn't as hyped as the media. As a whole, though, excellent, well worth the 8 bucks.

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY - Jul 11, 2008 - 08:06am
Excellent Film. Saw it last night at 12:01 and it was worth the late night. Certainly improves on the first movie, and I very much enjoyed it. The film feel bigger, but not in a MIB II sort of way. The bigger is better. The story is more pronounced, the characters more developed and the foe much more formidable. I agree with the reviewer that the film does resonate longer with you. It certainly has some interesting moral questions, although I disagree that it was too long. I actually lost track of the time, and for me that's always a good sign. Anyway, great movie I'm sure will be thoroughly enjoyed by genre fans.
